If Shorts 'Engine' is big enough to play midfield it's time we move him to to wing opposite Pickett and with Flappers playing in defence.
If a dud like Langdon can be refered to a as A grade Winger so can Short.
1 of Shorts best games was in the 2020 GF when he was moved high up the ground.
He was unbelievable.

Shouldn't you look at Short's career, not his sinlgle best season? Look at his 2021 was this when you list all defenders -

5th in ave kicks.
40th on Average Score involvements (3rd at tigers for defenders behind Baker/Houli)
102nd on Ave Score Launches (last of most of the tigers defenders)

Now you could refine it further by removing those with too littlke games played but to me they are pretty damning stats.

You could have argued the opposition wanted him getting the ball.

I recall in 2021 plenty off posters noted how often he called for the ball when out of position, these stats appear to confirm that.

2023 shapes as a massive year for Short.

Jack of him constantly calling players for the cheap round the back hand pass when they're lining up around the fifty. He only makes about one in twenty of them n should just shut the *smile* up n mind his own business when someone else is trying to focus.

Me neither. At the ground he played forward, back, mid. Didn’t play the fourth quarter and reckon he played only 50-60% of the other three. But was running his backside off both ways. He’s certainly an interesting watch.

Yeh it’s infuriating. You just knew he would do it again. Always kicks it from a worse position than the set shot. Rarely goals. Yet the commentators always say he’s a great kick. Morons.

I reckon it would help the team if Shorty moves back and Danny went forward again. It won't happen after Danny's stellar season off half back last year but we desperately need another good creative and quick forward who can lay a tackle and Shorty doesn't really seem to have a set role at the moment.

Short couldn’t have supported my argument more of the difference between himself and DRioli if he tried.
Daniel received one cheapie from a teammate and put it straight through the middle whilst Short missed two out of two ( and asked for plenty more )
Again watched him throw the ball on his boot rather than looking up and hitting a target.
I don’t dislike Short but he’ll be taken over by players like Clarke and others if he doesn’t clean his kicking up.

They are doing a disservice to him. I have been critical of Short in the past but this isn’t fair to him. He won a B&F playing off half back. Then leave him there. There is no room in the midfield for him.

Baker is the ace up the sleeve because you can just about play him anywhere on the ground.

I dont think it should be Short vs Rioli. Short won a b&f playing with Bachar so history says we can have him and Dan down back. Baker is the extra, so based on their running we should be rotating the 3 of them through the back half.

Interesting to see Short using the ball more quickly. And when a bloke isn't looking before he kicks he can improve by using the ball short. And we saw some of that.

Improved tackle numbers will be good. And score involvements. Looked better to my eye.

The problem is the opposition then load up with tall marking targets. Only one small quarterback at a time... We need Broady and Vlaussy on the halfback line.
