Welcome Sam Naismith

Naismith was playing better than most of our AFL players earlier in the year, albeit at VFL.

Good bloke too but yeh 50.50 to be on the list in 2025.

no surprise Sam has announced his retirement

Sad, he’s just done it so hard for 12 seasons. Does this mean Samsung is now the 2nd ruck or does Naismith get replaced with another mature ruckman?

Richmond players in queue for the exit. Who's next tomorrow? All the best to Crayfish. Thanks for the 12 months.

Regardless of the outocme this year, was the right move to sign him.

Wish him well, he is a ripping bloke.

And we need to find another mature ruck because Samson Ryan is not a number 2 ruck at this stage, barely a number 2.

Agree but we could've done better finding a 2nds ruckman who couldn't break into their 1sts. Cray was too old and buggered.

Cray said his time at Richmond was the most enjoyable of his career. Big wrap for the culture.

The most overused term in footy is 'Journey' but this bloke might have the most unique journey I've had in a long time.

And screams leadership, wouldn't be shocked to see him stick around in some sort of coaching capacity. I get real Ivy Maric energy.

Considering that he played the majority of his career at a club with the Bloods culture at the Swans, that's massive praise.

100% agree. Sad really that at no stage did he get a proper chance to show his wares at the level.

Surely Colina is out the door. Need a mature ruckman and a junior with a football background that we can develop long term.

All the best Crayfish as you had another crack and it was always going to be a tall ask.

Comes across as a really great bloke does Cray.

Levelheaded and a great mentor and club man for the juniors.

Sad that his final run at it ended with the same horrendous result and injury that cruelled his career.

Could play but never really got the chance to showcase his game with continuity and a fully fit body.

His application and continued willingness to put himself through rehab after rehab after rehab to continue chasing his dream speaks volumes for his character and also his other personal tragedies in his family with father and sister shows amazing resilience, will and courage.

One of those blokes thats on the scene for only a short time but still manages to leave a legacy. Not many can do that.

Congratulations Sam you gave it all you had mate.

Enjoy your retirement Cray.
