Welcome Sam Naismith

Horrible news for him. Ends his career at AFL (and possibly VFL) level.

Just hasn't been able to have a genuine crack at it.

I was at Sandy and I saw him slap the ground when he did it.
Felt for him as he walked off the ground and then down into the change rooms knowing that would this mostly be his last ever game he would play at the top level.
Sad for him.

Sadly confirmed it's a ruptured ACL. What contract was Sam on? 1 year or 2?

I really feel for Sam suffering his fourth ACL injury. The poor bloke's career has been blighted by the cruellest of injuries so I hope he recovers well but question if it is worth continuing in his AFL career after this latest setback

I think it’s fair to say Naismith won’t be on the list in ‘25. Watching the Bummers tonight I see they prefer Draper and Bryan as their 1 & 2 rucks and therefore Goldstein as their 3rd ruck and Visentini as the 4th.

Is Goldy worth a shot on a 12 month contract to be the 2nd ruck at Richmond as the replacement for Naismith?

I'm surprised that Naismith hasn't announced his retirement.

He surely can't be on the list next year.

Dunno how tight this years cap is, but I'm pretty sure Naismith being out with a knee reco he'd be entitled to a full years pay next year, might have to ensure his salary goes into next years budget and retiring him early would mean his next years money gets tacked into this years cap.
