Welcome Sam Banks

So he has good aerobic capacity.
That’s something.
I guess the disappointment is that, even at this very early stage of his career, it’s hard to identify any other higher than average attributes.
His slight build and lack of physicality is a worry.
This can also improve with a few more pre seasons, but even at this early stage of a players career you want to see the intent to get meaningfully involved in tight.
Our older premiership warriors are just hanging in there, and we desperately needed Banks and his draft cohort to be better than “average”.
Apart from Gibcus, that’s not looking promising.
Matt Clarke has left us holding a whole big bunch of young “average”.

It's timing if had the 5 in 30 a couple years earlier.
Between 20-30 where we had 3 picks
Was Allen Taylor Daniels Balta

You forgot to add . Cant win the ball when in dispute
Tell the last time he won his own ball ?
Nobody can
His lame attempts to smoother in Saturday were pathetic at best

Despite a very ordinary game I'd stick with Banks for at least another week. We need to get snr games into our youth now.
If they're not good enough then that's another matter but we need to find out. They wont get better in the VFL.
They need to find confidence at snr level.

With the lack of alternatives, the club has no choice but to persevere and give him time.
It's got Hugo vibes - gift games hoping he magically blossoms.

11 touches. 4 Turnover. 0 SI. 3 GBG. 3 Tackle.

Brandon was too good for him early. Banks got some very limited ball in the second half.

Brandon is a good benchmark. That's the one Banks is trying to reach.

Couldn't get the ball. Use was often sloppy. His use will improve but ya gotta get a kick. Well off the level in R0.

Ellis was subbed out.
He was GC worse player.
I hope you don't set benchmarks as a job

I’m not suggesting it’s a high benchmark, zips.
Ellis was a foot soldier that played his role extremely well.
Banks hasn't shown enough for me to say he will get to a AFL level let alone a 2 time premiership players level

My biggest fear for Banks isn't his skill, it's his inability to get his hand on the ball enough.

Last season he had a quite a number of games in the VFL where he had disposal counts in the mid teens (avg 19 for the season).

No use being highly skilled if you can't get the pill.

Ouch.
Another who'll need to show good form in the twos to earn another promotion you'd think.
We're going to find out plenty about these kids this year. Some will rise, some will fall.
Banks stocks took a dip.

With his interrupted preseason, I was surprised that he was selected to play against the Suns. Should have played in the practice game.

Interrupted?
His ability to win the ball in dispute is his issue
He plays scared
Last weeks match review was cringeworthy
Can’t keep jumping out of the way of your opponent
Spare me !!!
