Welcome Judson Clarke

Or maybe our development of young players has dropped off, we were good at this for a while but the young players with potential don't seem to be improving to the level to play AFL now.

Subs have to impact..
bringing on Clarke in the last qtr on a small ground was like using a garden hose on bush fire. It was useless
He is another kid that side steps anything that is going to mean body contact.
Like others have said about Sony & Miller you can't teach players to accept getting hit.
The 2021 "5 under 30 draft" is looking like a disaster

Tipping Juddy sleeps with the lights on
Plays scared
His efforts with his attempted one arm tackle while jumping out of Papley way against the Swans proved that
Huge no from me
He can play VFL for remainder of the year after missing the target for at least 30 metres in last quarter when Jack was on the lead
This ain’t Auskick Juddy
Time to get Dow a go

Agree he needs to accept physical contact to be a player. Too soft. Up to him if he wants to correct this. Summer in the gym & a change of mindset. Soft players rarely change though.

And for someone with a technically correct kicking action, he misses way too many targets.

id like him playing as a small forward , we need his skill and ability to read the ball inside 50 , his time will come in the LAblett role

Fiora, Tivendale, Hyde..?

Im burning the tape.

16 blokes out there looked bereft. Too old, too young, too slow, etc.

Theres a high chance all our kids arent first rounders,

But no way all our kids arent good enough

Apprantly Dow isn't getting a game because he is a worse kick.
Fken 1st rounders have screwed us

You mean when he kicked it inside 50? He wasn't kicking that to Jack, he was kicking into the pocket for Balta, but in true Balta style forward, he doesn't read the play and actually leads back the other way towards goal (instead of into the pocket) where Juddy would have needed to kick it 70m. Juddy actually hit Baltas defender lace out on the tit. If Balta had lead like he should have, he'd have been lining up for a set shot at goal.

Juddy was running toward the boundary so the kick was always going to go into the pocket. So Balta leads up the middle. He's not a forward and never will be so why play him there?

agree with your comment on Dow. If the kid is playing well, need to promote

Balta should be used at CHF not full forward, get to win the ball forward of CHF (our current problem area), then kick long to a contest.

Funny reading all the excuses on here . That’s why we have fallen off the cliff extremely quickly
Everyone has an excuse. . Oh they are only young , need to get games into them etc etc . Other clubs above us don’t have these issues . Seriously!

Obviously Dow and Clarke are different players playing different roles.

Dow is a slight inside mid extractor that can't consistently hit a target.
Clarke is a skinny outside running flanker that can kick but has zero physical presence.

We already have Ross in the side, a good VFL mid that can't consistently perform to the required AFL level, and thus is being forced to play in positions that suit him less.
Which exposes him and unbalances the side.

Dow will likely get his chance this year at some stage, because they need to give him one last chance - before he goes the way of RCD.

Clarke is a keeper for another year or two because he can run and can hit a target - but for a longer term career he desperately needs to bulk up and learn how to tackle.

Exactly, I said the same to my daughter at the game, some people around grumbling about Juddy, but where else was he supposed to kick it to? He had just won a really good 1 on 1, loose ball bouncing to the boundary, literally the only place it could go was the pocket but Balta wanted him to punt it 70m into the middle. Strange, but just shows that he doesn't have the instincts and the forward smarts to lead where he needs to.

No such thing as excuses. This is professional sport and not simply a recreational pastime. Accepting mediocrity is to accept failure. We did that for 35 years - never again.

Set standards in every aspect and aspire to them. If there’s a weakness, work on it & get better. If not - get out & let someone else have a go.
