Welcome Josh Gibcus

It was a very positive story TF, and it sounds like he is confident that everything is going well since his treatment overseas. Says he has made some changes to his running technique. I hope it all works out well for him (and us 😀)
Even better hearing him praise Grimo for mentoring.

Gibbus won't be the next Rance as some keep saying.

He will likely be the next Grimes especially as he matures.

Balta is the new Rance, Young is the new Dave and Gibbus will be the new Grimes.

Daniel has already replced Bash.. So thats 4 of the 6 covered.

Just need a replacement Broady and replacement Vlas for when they finish up.

Gibcus will be the first Gibcus.

Just hoping he gets a reasonable share of good health, and minimal injuries over seasons 2024-25.

Very happy he got through & is back playing but I don’t think anyone should be expecting Gibcus to hold down a key defensive spot just yet in the snrs. Kid needs to find confidence in body & his football. If Balta is to play forward I expect Miller will start back early in the season at least..until Gibcus & Lynch are ready to return.

The 5 day break between the first two games will play a massive part if both Gibcus and Lynch play.

Yeah agree. Big chance (and prob for the best for him) he starts in the VFL and works into AFL once form and confidence warrant it.

Think expectations are way ahead on the reality of what he can produce in 24. For the first half of the season at least.

Was just so happy to see him get through & back to playing some footy again as this seemed unlikely a while back.
Hopefully as the heat of games turns up, his hamstrings stay sound.
There was one really nice link up passage of play where he moved really well but we didn't see too much of his aerial game which was prominent when he burst on the scene.
Hopefully as confidence in his body grows so too will that aspect of his game return.
Gently, gently.

Hawthorn's Jitah who attended same Qatar hamstring guru as Gibcus did a hamstring in Hawks intra-club today and out for 6-8 weeks.

Fingers crossed for Josh🤞🤞🤞

Still need to go slow and steady with the lad.

Every bit of work he gets through allows for strengthening and better conditioning of the soft tissues. and break down and repair.

Like Grime early doors s as soon as Gibbus starts maturing physically his hamstrings will strengthen and toughen up.

I still suspect without evidence of course that the kid was going hard on the pelvic and dead lifts preseason to build his glutes and leg strength and simply went hard in match sim without enough quality rest and repair time for his hammy tendon and it simply went Bang.

I distinctly remember seeing footage of him in the gym doing the dead lifts and pelvic lifts not long before he blew out his hammy tendon.

All makes sense Craig. Question then is who was monitoring this?

Tracking a fair way ahead of where I expected he might be. Got through today really well and have a few old Gibcus moments. Big step forward for his confidence.

They got first centre clearance, went long and direct, and Gibcus jumped and clunked it. Enjoyed that very much

Filled out to perfection.
Starting to resemble a beast.
Yesterday would have done wonders to blow out some cobwebs but more importantly given him some much needed confidence in his body
