Welcome back Nathan/Foley Update [Merged]

At only 26 and with his injuries behind him hopefully, Foley can definitely help that talented young midfield rise over the next few years.

As Dimma said we had effectively 2 first round picks this year. Foley and Conca. Conca minus a pre-season will almost be a first rounder next year. And Foley will be like a 2nd year player who has had a solid first season trying to consolidate in his second. Watched a 2007 game against the Pies. Had the first 3 clearances!! Commentators were in awe of him back then. Was simply awesome.

And having 18 months away from all the wear and tear really makes him a 24 & 1/2 year old. 8)

Awesome. And Angus Graham avoiding physical contact makes him still an 18yo? Give him time PREnders.

I'd like to congratulate Nathan on his 2011 season. A massive bonus for us considering his troubled past. Week after week he goes about his task with 100% commitment and determination. He leads by example. He has a knack of doing a great job without always being noticed. In many ways a bit of a quiet achiever.

It was a massive bonus that Nathan played all 22 games, averaging 21.6 disposals and 5.6 tackles.

Talk of trading him is disappointing. He's worked very hard to get back to fitness and form. A very valuable player in our team of kids.

Have a good pre-season Nath. I'm looking forward to seeing you Eat em Alive next year.

Yeah really good year. He's a vital part of our midfield and should only get better next year.

Well done to Axel. I hate seeing talk of trading him, of "throwing him in" to a deal. We praise Dusty, Cotch etc for making statements of loyalty by signing on for several years when they could go to GWS for big money, yet we would casually talk of trading someone who would do the proverbial bleeding for the jumper, works hard and is still improving, and has done amazingly well to come back from injury. Not fair to him, and not a good example for future loyalty.

Just hope that "we" is only those on this forum, not the club itself.

Yeah congrats to Nathan.

Vital part of our midfield.

Let's hope he re-signs soon as he is uncontracted for next year.

Had a better year than I thought he would and was good to see him back at 100% fitness. In saying that is yet to return to his best.
There is some rumour about he might be moving elsewhere but we'll see.

The GWS whispers just wont go away re Foley.

RFC are keen to get into the mini draft.

Foley alone won't get us a look-into the mini draft.

Besides, he is uncontracted for next year and GWS can sign him for nothing and we will likely get an end of 1st round pick as compensation.

Having said that...2 x end of first round compo picks will probably get us one of the gun 17y/o's.

Hope he stays as he can only get better after a couple of injury interrupted seasons. Also love the way he plays his footy & how hard he has worked to get to where he is today.

Foley is almost the last person I would trade at the moment.

Was consistent this year after long term injuries and will be better next year. If we were to trade him, there is no way we would get a good enough deal IMO. His stocks are on the rise.
