We have been labelled as "Gutless" and must respond

Poor umpiring aswell.... Didak should have been pinged for holding the ball/incorrect disposal then 50m penalty for the thug pie players pouncing on him! Would have stopped the melee.....

Well thank god they stuffed up! only thing worth watching from the w/e's action!
 
Collingwood as usual having a whinge. We talk about Newman not being captain material. How one earth did Maxwell get the job at Collingwood?

Maxwell isinuating that the Tigers somehow pre-planned a physical assault on Collingwood knowing they couldn't retaliate due to being in finals soon. What a load of rubbish. It's all push and shove these days regardless of whether its round 1 or round 22. Unless you are Barry Hall of course, in which case it doesn't matter what day of the week it is.

Was quite funny to watch actually. The umpire threw up the ball but no-one was interested. Thought the two other field umpires were going to jump up for the tapout for a moment there.
 
Whether we were "gutless" or not, it does not need of all people the captain of another club to label us in the most public of forums. If we, as supporters or members wish to make those sort of comments here on PRE so be it, but to have a Mudpie captain label us in that way is gutless in it's own right. lets see if Maxwell would get in the ring with say Simmons, who is a black belt karate expert...or so I believe....and see who is gutless!!!
 
this is coming from a Sniper, that has amnesia, he forgets the cheap K.O's on unexpecting oppoments, in the pre season. The only gutless one that stood out was Swan pulling Deildio's hair while O"bree was holding him. he is still recovering from the shot right to the JAW by cogs,
 
opps forgot to mention pack busting tough guy TARKEN LOCKYER, last of the cowards to jump on king, but the first to run to the boundary as soon as it started to fire up. CUDDY lockyer would have to be one the most softest players with obree ive ever seen
 
Nick Maxwell cracks me up. No seriously, I laugh when I watch him play.

They are a bunch of comedians at Collingwood, on one hand they say they are a famous club with a strong history, then with the other, they give Nick Maxwell the captaincy....

A crack up I tell ya!

If he wants to have a go that's his decision, I must say though, in my opinion, all this is coming from his embarrassing effort when Tommy Hislop made him look like a 12 year old school girl. Maxwell a tough guy? Please, he got found out.
 
Nick Maxwell you are quite funny.........this guy surely would have had to throw out his underwear and shorts after the game from the sh*t stains he obtained when he saw Hislop coming towards him.
 
Why should we respond ,it is true we have played CRAP football , was that meant to be our version of playing unsociable football, great we started melees and jake king upset didak for 2 seconds, did jake king play any better or did the team benefit , no this was just crap football and jade is slowly running out of plans, options etc for what we have on the paddock. Our standard is that far below any other club at the moment.
 
This is a calculated and political stunt by Maxwell - well probably the Collingwood hierarchy actually (snipers like Maxwell don't have a lot to gain by calling others 'gutless' unless ordered to).

The simple reality is that Collingwood instigated the brawl by attacking King. They should have a lot more to fear from the tribunal than we should.

By coming out at saying "but Miss - he hit me first", they are trying to deflect attention from where it should lie.

Most likely the AFL will feel the pressure of Collingwood, and they'll get off scott free.


As to our response - I think long memories are best.

UPDATE 12:25pm: MATTHEW Richardson has fired back at Nick Maxwell, who has accused Richmond of gutless tactics. In the aftermath of the Magpies' 97-point humiliation of the Tigers, the Pies' skipper accused the Tigers of using their also-ran status to step outside the spirit of the game and pick fights and try to suck their opponents into brawling.

Today Richardson said Maxwell's comment were uncalled for.

“I don’t know whether Nick needed to be making those sort of comments after a game," Richardson said on Vega 91.5.

As to our response?
Just remind the public & the AFL that it was the 4 Pies players that jumped on King on the back of a legitimate tackle that started the melee.
 
Must respond.... This is questioning the integrity of our footy club.

Honestly if our boys dont put their head over the ball at every single opportunity next week they should be off our list!

Richo should have said... not being able to fight more like to scared to fight!

Gutless is.... Nick Maxwell attacking Tom Hislop whilst Hislop was on the ground being attacked by another Scum player, then getting owned by Hislop even before sloppy had gotten to his feet and given nicki 3 nice jumper punches to the mouth.

AFL really should get a please explain from RFC. What would have happened if King had gotten an injury, say a broken back from 4 or 5 blokes jumping on him ?

That's not as far fetched as it sounds. Stack ons can cause major injuries, have seen it first hand.
 
Best method of responding is out on the field the next time the Tiges meet the Pies.

For my mind, I remember in the late 70s & early 80s of StKilda players like Joffa Cunningham who couldn't match us on the footy field but often tried to take out our players.

Joffa's efforts usually spurred the Tiges on to give 20 goal thumpings to the Saints.
Ironic how times have changed.

I spoke to a Collingwood supporter, in the know, on saturday night.
He said the Tiger's tactics were worth at least 5 goals to the Pies.

Meh!

If you can't win the game, you may as well win the fights.

Great to see footy returning to its roots.

I expect our response to be a ferocious first 10 minutes agains the Hawks on Saturday, before we revert to type.
