Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

What, along with every other player in the league? Cribbing the mark is rife, you see it all the time, players go a metre or two over the mark and point at the ground.

Gets penalised . . . sometimes, occasionally, when the ump feels like it. At other times they just bring the player back and if the player doesn't go back quick enough a 50m penalty is paid . . . sometimes, occasionally, when the ump feels like it.

What a mess.

DS
The disrefuter would argue just don’t crib the mark. Which is fine if umpires consistently enforced the rules. If they penalised every single infringement. But they don’t. Which is where the frustration comes from. It’s a lottery that we seem to never win.

Most players cribbing the mark are at the point of play and fudge where they think the mark is until the umpy calls them back. This time the umpy indicated where the mark was n Fridge ran in from ten metres away pointing at the ground n blatantly overran the mark by a metre or more. As stupid a fifty as you could give away.
*smile*. Watch the replay and tell me that’s a metre over. Umpires never get the mark exactly right.

I have a positive

It always feels like the umpires favour us whenever we're about 4-5 goals down.

Everything seems to go our way, helping us get back into the game. On the other hand, the same thing seems to happen in reverse.

Is this just a perception thing? Style of play? Umpire bias?

The infringements given were fairly equal between the Tigers and the Dog (only 2) but I still had a problem with understanding a couple of the stranger decisions or why a Dogs throwing the ball or HTB are not given

The witch hunt and bashing started by the media after the game on Lynch we seen this before media driven.

Had to laugh when Jones was paid the free against Lynch in the last. commentator said the fact that Lynch didn’t react or question the free meant he obviously knew it was there and he was in the wrong. Message from Richardson obviously sinking in. If players don’t question frees how dare the crowd!
The incident for which Lynch has been charged was called play on and was also not questioned by the Bulldogs players. Must have been a correct call then ?

Correction D30, MMM started the campaign as soon as they saw Keith out cold for not watching the ball and running head first at the man, Tom Lynch.
Campaigners started campaigning as soon as they realised they could make a name for themselves.

And they brought in a fourth when all of the talk (from the start ) that they were thousands short in the lower leagues.

They could umpire those leagues because the standard of umpiring in the four rounds played hasn’t improved the situation. ( tongue in cheek with a touch of seriousness).

Four umpires. Four different interpretations.

You can’t have one umpire who in the vicinity award a free and an umpire in the grandstand see it differently and award an opposite free to the one nearest to the play. This has been happening for years.

The 6 6 6 rule. No ball up , pay a free to the non offending team.

Players and clubs still get umpired differently.

But they’ve made the rule now, so it’ll be there forever.

They are going with 'Umpires Call' more often unless the evidence is actually conclusive.
As it should have been with the LYNCH goal where they overruled the UMPIRES CALL that it was GOAL..
very frustrating still

At least we can feel pleased that we were the catalyst to improve the adjudication of such decisions.

:peepwall

I'll see myself out. :ban
