Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

The jackson holding the ball was just unbelievable as well. I think i scratched half my head of hair off with that one...

What is annoying me more than anything (and im not just referring to Richmond games), is the amount of free kicks the player being tackled is receiving. Way too 'tiggy touchwood' push in the backs and high contact free kicks.

Today was the most blatant display of diving forward to get in the back decisions as I've ever seen by Port. Plenty of teams do it but Port just aren't very good at it. Maybe because they are young but it was as plain as dog balls today. Umpires obviously couldn't see it but what do you expect.

Was at the Hawks and Swans game tonight and the umpiring was ridiculously bad for Hawthorn. When nearly a whole Southern Stand full of people chant '*smile*', you've got to wonder about the umpiring.

Unfortunately, the umpiring fraternity are immune to open criticism and constructive criticism from players, coaches, and officials, and when anyone does so, they are often sanctioned. It's an arbitrary arrangement where Geischen and co do not take on board any of the genuine umpiring concerns so in effect, it is incredibly difficult to improve.

They just copied our supporters.

We started that years ago.

I don't doubt it.

When that many people disagree with a decision...especially those who keep the game up and running in $$$$, I hope Gieschen was taking notice.

Pre-match, a Port official was still grizzling about the 38-15 free kick count in favour of North Melbourne the previous week, and by coincidence Port's only two goals in the first term came from free kicks.

From the Age.

Explains the first quarter performance from the umps!

I posted in the first quarter asking if all scores had come from free kicks...ours included. Not sure if anyone answered but we thought that it was the case. Does anyone know?

Our first goal certainly wasn't from a free.

We got 2 fifties and some soft frees too.i think if you watch the game again, besides the 2 at the start and the 1000 Edwards gives away, they weren't as bad as last week or against collingwood

Dan just lay on his back laughing at the umpire. Surprised he didn't give away 50 seeing how sensitive they are.

having a listen to SEN on Friday even Neil Balme had a crack at KB over the marking rule. Luv KB but the stupidity, arrogance and defiance there is nothing wrong was in itself summed up that nothing will change and part of the problem that wont be fixed

From the fingernails touching someones back being a free kick and that puppet Giesch carrying on about degrees of this and that. ITS ALL BULLDUST. In some way I pity the umpires as they are the messengers in this.

From supporters, players, coaches and commentators since a few years ago when this farce happened its getting worse.

Oh and KB's response watch the dvd, its free. It's also on the AFL site. It's easy to understand...blah, blah blah. crap

I wonder is it all about egos running the rules committee to see themselves with some self glorification of importance in the game. Still graving for some limelight about all those involved in this farce. I do really wonder.

Heard a bit of that farce. Only two things need to happen to fix things. First get rid of K.B. from anything to do with rules then get Giesch to follow him. Five hundred rules n half a dozen sub clauses to every rule n K.B. wonders why the players in the heat of the game can't remember how to interpret them all. You'd need an interpreter or bloody lawyer just to understand the bloody rules while sitting quietly in an office never mind playing footy at a hundred miles an hour.

While we're on the subject of rules n bloody umpires can some one please please please teach the shed how to tackle or hold players who have gone to ground without falling into the middle of the players back.

You would think with a rules committee they would meet every 3 years or so to monitor the game. Changing rules every bloody year is a joke.

K.B....I love the bloke but listening to him defend everything makes me sick. Every man woman and child thinks all the constant changes suk but not KB. If communist Russia had a radio station back in the day it would be like KB on SEN.

I thought we had the rub of the green going by the supporters at Footy Park yesterday.
Then I checked the stats on AFL's site.
21-15 in their favour.

Saw an incident in the GWS V Adelaide game today. Dangerfield pushed his opponent out of the way and took the mark, he actually stopped and dropped the ball partway into goal because he was expecting to be called for a push out. Looked back, saw he wasn't and kicked the goal. When something like that happens you know something is very wrong. It's become apparent the players don't understand the rules anymore and are confused, some coaches have admitted that they are. I wouldn't be surprised if the umpires are in the same boat with all the rule changes. The rules committee needs to be disbanded, but we can't possibly have KB not thinking he's irrelevant to the game.

There shouldn't be a rules committee. Period.

Whenever there is a committee, they need to do something to justify its existence therefore we see changes for the sake of changes....not only the marking/hands-in-the-back rule but also, because of Gary Rohan's isolated incident, we have 100 years of having no real issue with people diving in and showing bravery and desperation now being punished.
Knee-jerk reaction personified caused by a committee feeling the need to do something.

Finally, I love my soccer (and various other sports) but whenever some people criticise soccer and how "Aussie Rules is the best game in the world"...if this is true, why do we change the rules so often and need a rules committee to facilitate this?

Leave the game alone and let it evolve itself.

Sick of sub rules, coloured vests, and soon limiting interchange rotations...its becoming a joke if it isn't aleady.
