Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

Hehe, Dimma would have to spend a whole month working around the clock to get all the dodgy decisions made against us this year in a video compilation.

Dont know if he's got that much time on his hands!!

ill do it for free

pathetic...absolutley a mongrel of a wrong decision by that useless umpire....has giesch been asked about it...btw it was about the last kick of the first quarter..therefore that decision cost us the game ...
worst piece of sh!t umpiring i can recall

It's probably the only sport in the world where a player is penalised because of a skill error by the umpire, it defies logic.
They should just throw it up.

now nick natanui comes out and says he deserves more protection from umpires. as if west coast don't get enough. staggering, just staggering. will be interesting to see f he gets fined for it... because if he doesn't, jack needs to come out and say the same thing.

I don't believe there's any conspiracy against us. I just believe umpires on the whole are incompetent morons with ridiculously oversized egos and more often than not in 2012 we've been on the receiving end.
I wanted to think it's a conspiracy, but i think you just explained it.

I still think AFL and umpires have it in for us :help

Agree, incompetent at times! And this is only made worse by not allowing considered discussion that amounts open respectful criticism. Whenever something like this is controlled or driven underground you end up with the least common denominator prevailing. Egos will only get worse under the current model IMO (and this was said to me by an ex AFL umpire).

Yup. As long as umpiring cannot be discussed by those it most affects it cannot be improved upon. There is no way around this. I've known lower league umps and I got the impression they though of themselves as the custodians of the game and the rules. It is NOT their game. It was played before there were any umps. Get rid of the mikes, get rid of the running backwards, get rid of the players first names. Players to address the ump as sir and only in extreme circumstances. Get rid of the fancy colours. Umps in white, or black only. Get rid of the ridiculous procession of umps onto and off the ground, bloody prima donnas.

Good post agree, i hate how they call players by first name and some of them even use players nicknames, like WTF. They walk on the ground like they are kings of the game , next thing you know they will have there own banners.

I agree Knighter, umpires are getting getting way too far ahead of themselves.
Umpires should not have egos.
Umpires are extremely important, but their place isn't in the spotlight.
Just should enforce the rules of the game to the best of their ability.

the game is over umpired anyway...they should put their bloody whisles away and pay the really obvious ones only..the round the necks..and push in the backs etc..thats all...just leave the game alone and let it flow

the 50,s against delideo and moore
the non free kicks to jack
and especially the one against tuck says to me there is something going on out there that is unsavory..

my freinds writes a political colunmn for the *&^ AND was says his footy wirter mates all know that some players are just not liked by the umos and will always get a harsher go...jack is a prime example....

Yeah you have to laugh at West Coast whinging about umpiring considering they get to bring their own umpires every second game.

I was watching a replay of the North V Richmond GF in '74 the other day. Back then I think they only had one umpire, and that was a pretty willing game. Wade tried to take McGhie out on at least one occasion. Yet the umpire never lost control of it. Having 3 umpires doesn't help the game at all. I don't know if one could do it anymore, but surely we don't need 3 of them.

I just watched the replay (much harder to see some of this stuff at the ground) and the Moore free is perplexing. Is there a "professional free kick" rule in AFL? If not then it should just be a free for high contact. Why is it a 50? It wasn't rough, both players kept there feet. I don't get it? The Ferrito free at the start was instigated BY FERRITO and North had been engaging in "unduly rough play" on Maric for whole quarter with the umps doing nothing about it, what is he supposed to do? I imagine that is why Lids (who is not a hot head) lost his cool. Morris should have been given a free shot a goal after the siren for the ridiculous conduct of North. Some of the attention to a player lying prone on the ground was at least as bad as Judds stupidity, he's out for weeks and Morris cops a fine?!!! ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Could someone do a composite of purely free kicks paid against Jake King, free kicks for and missed free kicks for and against him? It would make for some pretty interesting viewing. If the right people could watch it has the potential to actually influence his treatment. Ok. I'm probably delusional.

And this is the joke. Rightly or wrongly I guarantee we get a sweeter run with the bastards against the blues.

And West coast will get a sweet run against Brisbane

And North will be super scrutinized against Melbourne.

Geish coaches the umpires like he coached Richmond. Up one week. Down the next.
On the weekend you could not buy a holding the ball decision, unless you pull the ball out of the ruck after a bad bounce...

Next week anyone touches the ball and gets caught you will get pinged.

I would not be surprised if the umpires start alternating between white and black shorts...

Hammer hits nail.

BE CONSISTENT YOU CHEATS!

As as they persist with this rule of the week philosophy they'll never achieve consistency, and as uhuh uhuh pointed out Giesch coaches the umpires they way he coached the Tigers.
