Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

I used to like Denis Commetti but IMO he's turning into a flog of the highest order. At the risk of being labelled paranoid and a conspiracy theorist he hates us...the worst part for me is when he pretends otherwise. Umpire no. 17 is Justin Schmitt but unlike yandb if I had to pick just one who screwed us yesterday (and it would be very hard) I'd say no. 32 (Jacob Mollison). Some of the decisions he made particularly in the last quarter were just disgraceful. I was going off my dial. I remember when Robbie Nahas was pushed in the back/ridden into the ground in one of the most blatant free kicks you'd ever see Mollison was the controlling umpire and he just stood there and watched it happen right in front of him...it was actually Schmitt who came in and payed it (conveniently they both missed the obvious 50). Not the first time that prick's screwed us over either.

I was at the game yesterday and yes I thought some decisions didn't go our way but whe ur disposal and kicking efficiency is poor ur tackling is below par and you can't convert from inside 50 you deserve to loose. The reality was we thought we could just do what we did last week and just win run over the top of them like we did last year. The inability to adapt to strategy and conditions cost us the game not the umpires

Shocking umpiring once again but this time I'm not blaming them.We weren't good enough yesterday.

Ross Lyon out coached us.

The positive is Damian Hardwick and the assistant coaches can take a lot out of yesterdays game to see where we went wrong.
We were just strangled by their numbers around stoppages.
I saw 6 Freo players lurking outside stoppages unmarked.

Dimma will be onto it though.

Just another learning curve to overcome.

Bloody Freo hehe.
Ross Lyon still is a master of that strangling style of footy.

Shocking to watch but effective.

I haven't seen the game but they said on ABC radio that Tigers might bemoan the uneven count but Freo actually got the frees because they wanted the ball more.

So what's your opinion now after watching the game Rosie? I thought Fremantle was first to the ball a lot more and deserved more frees but some of the decisions against the Tigers were mind-boggling.

I haven't watched the game and probably won't bother so I don't have an opinion really. Sounds like it was a disappointing effort overall going by comments on here.

On the AFL site you can watch just the replays of free kicks. Pretty painful and won't show you any of the obvious missed frees but will show you what people are complaining about and won't take long.

one thing you notice is the joy Dwaaaaayne gets from every free against us.

Then you watch ours. Nahas gets bowled over with head high contact and Dwaaaayne says he plays for it and 'milks' a free. thankfully Dunstall corrects hims saying it was definitely there. has another go at a later free kick where Nahas is again caught high FLOG

Apart from a clear high tackle that was given as holding the ball late in the game, the umpiring was fine yesterday... They were first to the ball, it's as simple as that

Disagree I thought the umpiring was appalling just inconsistent as per the usual AFL standards, funny enough went to bombers game sat night and they were second to the ball all night and at half time had 10 frees more than Sydney.
Morris got his head pulled off no free, nahas 50 not given, we got pinned for deliberate out of bounds and earlier in the game freo don't , Ballantine shove on Morris in the back.

There just a few off the top of my head.

Not an excuse for loss but umpires need to be consistent which they are not.

Actually I will concede the deliberate out of bounds lacked consistency

yes and maybe about another 6 or 7 shocking decisions as well. Umpiring was pathetic .

What game were you at? You have to be kidding mate. That was a joke. As already listed by previous posters there were a hell of a lot more than one wrong decision. ::) We were poor yesterday but we were also crucified.

Watched the replay, reckon there were maybe a couple of poor ones but jeez the overreaction on here is crazy.

We lost it when we failed to adjust to the conditions. Dinky handpasses and kicks in the backline were more critical to the loss than the umps. And the fumbling?? Houli & Newman handled it like a greasy pig. Batch made some costly blues. Dea the only one to show sure hands & Morris was pretty good.

Rance was stiff, he beat Pav in as many contests as he lost and Pav ends up with 6. His teammates did him no favours on a number of occassions.

Reckon A Maric was not as bad as many make out, we need to persist with him.

I just read the free kick count in the Swans v Ess game. Ess 23 to Swans 13!

Essendon must have wanted the ball more.........

Never really paid much attention about Derwaynes calling of games except that he really looks and sounds like a twit but the glee in his tone for the last 6 minutes of the game had me going purple.

What did we ever do to him?

I heard that in the replay. Pathetic commentary at it's best.
