Trent Cotchin (Merged)

I never waivered with Cotchy, outstanding character and fantastic footballer, absolutely the right person to skipper the club, perhaps started a year or so to early but has been enormous in bringing unity and loyalty within, culminating in removed the 37 year curse...

Was sensational in the finals, loved the 'toughest tiger of them all' call i think from BT in one of the finals, he is a battering ram and all class!

Listening to Cotch in his return presser yesterday and he oozes leadership these days. Seems a man very comfortable in his own skin & just getting better all the time in the captaincy role.
It was very comforting listening to him speak & I've got no doubt he'll be doing his utmost to keep the players grounded & with their eyes on further improvement.

Agree - one of the best and still underrated captains in the AFL.

When he felt as though he had to be someone else, you could see the weight of the world on his shoulders and I worried about how long he would stay in the game for.

Now that he is comfortable in his own skin and being his own style of leader, he has developed into a terrific captain.

I honestly can't think of a better skipper in the league at the moment and with Rance and Riewoldt as his leadership sidekicks, we have amazing on and off-field generals.

thought the same. it was a continuation of his vibe from the premiership season. cool and calm, well spoken and generous with his thoughts. a smart bloke and the best guy to be captaining RFC.

Do you think there will be room for Martin in that leadership group.

No, doesn't need it, doesn't want it.

Dusty's influence comes through his on field deeds and in the genuine off-field care he shows his team-mates.

Dusty can just be Dusty without the additional pressures or attention of a title.

Grown up a hell of a lot and found his place has Cotchy. Doesn't need to be what someone else wants, he's figured out who he needs to be n it fits perfectly.

Was it the captains survey where he didn't poll a vote from the other captains and walker was voted number 1?
It was the players from all the AFL teams that voted. The article was written in September 12 so I assume the survey was conducted near or during the finals, yet the numbskull players couldn't even put Cotchin in the top 5 AFL captains. No idea where he finished up as the poll only shows the top 5.

2017 BEST CAPTAIN VOTING
1. Taylor Walker (Adelaide) – 140 votes
2. Josh P Kennedy – 125 votes
3. Joel Selwood – 100 votes
4. Jarryd Roughead – 87 votes
5. Bob Murphy – 46 votes

It seems most of the AFL players are Power Ranger fans.

Missed the All aus team too!

Then you watch his finals carnage

arguably the best season by a player who isn't selected in the AA team.

Cotchy had a monster year. from January to October.

Cotchin is an absolute beauty ... a premiership captain ... a leader by example ... he will set the tone for season 2018.

A Monty for AA in 2018.

I believe he has the leadership to take the tigers to back2back premierships.

I’m already excited about the coming season.

They should get the captains to redo their voting.
And Walker can't vote for himself
