Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Life-changing 12 months for the skipper. Leading the club to the long-lost 11th flag and a Brownlow to boot. He'll be referred to down the track as "the great Trent Cotchin".

Holy *smile* we didn't win very often around that time eh.

Makes it all the more sweeter now.

Brownlow and Premiership captains of the last 30 years.

Judd, Voss, Hird, Mitchell and Cotchin.

Rare air indeed.

Who remembers this. I wonder if Cotch will give the game away

Some decent players there

Cotch and the coaches are looking to elevate his game in 2018 and beyond by becoming a better one-on-one resting forward. Cotch's quote below:

"I want people to treat me like Dusty when I go forward"

Now this I would love to see.

OMFG! 2018 season long woodie guaranteed.

Will be no surprise if Sausage, Geezer, Jaaack 2 take on more mid field roles all next year CEllis, Mendoo, Caddy, perhaps even George n Towner will rotate through mid forward / back at times as well. We could almost get to the point of having a defensive five, ruck, Jaaack n some sort of crazy rotation of 17 others that can plug n play just about everywhere else.

Let the other coaches wet their knickers n fry their brains trying to work out WTF is going on, on match day.

I know this has been floated for some years, I just think he is so important to the midfield, he is truly inspirational and just so damn hard at the footy, I don't think we have a player that can replace him, perhaps Graham in a year or two but he just dives head first with no self regard time and time again and often comes out with the footy to advantage, absolutely love the Skipper!

Well said, TigerT. RFC is blessed to have Cotchin at the helm. Has taken his game to another level and the players are inspired by what he does around the contest. Inspirational finals series where he really stamped his imprimatur on the game.

Yeah that got me real excited. He used to play a lot more one out in the square. Vividly remember him rag dolling a much bigger Hawthorn player up forward and taking a diving mark. Can’t wait for more of that.

The Tigers lifted significantly when he (and a few others) laid some heavy tackles. A thing of beauty. Not all about high flying marks or kicking goals on the run, although they are possibly more exciting, but team lifting, bone crunching tackles that hurt the opposition, noice.

Then he might have been thinking he would be 39 when he finally got one.

Stupid suggestion Cotchin will play for another 6 years with 3 flags under his belt , tripe on guys....

Townsend’s tackle on Crouch halfway through the 2nd quarter has become an iconic moment of the GF.

Listening to Cotch in his return presser yesterday and he oozes leadership these days. Seems a man very comfortable in his own skin & just getting better all the time in the captaincy role.
It was very comforting listening to him speak & I've got no doubt he'll be doing his utmost to keep the players grounded & with their eyes on further improvement.
