Training For Redemption in 2022

Main Training Today Friday:

Everything I hoped to see today I did, (despite Tigga,Prestia & Caddy not being there), but they are not in my immediate calculations.

Despite being very windy it was a pretty energetic and sharp session and plenty of voice to be heard.

More importantly Riewoldt trained fully and well.
My other main watches, ( either returning from injury, injury watch, or player management on Wednesday), Grimes, Dow, Shai, Graham & KMac), all trained strongly and appear good to go.

So over to you all would be selectors to pick your line-up.

**Added bonus and interesting : Lambert trained fully with the squad including the 15 minute match play component,
thanks yet again Caesar , with all sounding fit and well no room for MRJ on sunday ?

@caesar

Sorry to bother you, was there any training today that you know of?

It was only a warm down session that occurred today at about 1:30pm. There was a big press contingent there today that had been waiting since about 10am o_O , probably on Dusty watch?
It's a story either way and today's story was Dust wasn't there
I didn't hang around for the session as it really wasn't going to give an indication of who's fit and who isn't. I was relieved to see Judson Clarke with the group though as he didn't look good when he went down in the VFL, double fisting the ground and escorted off by 2 trainers when he did so,, (even though others said he later returned the field? it was good to see for myself today.),
Thinking there will only be one main training session this week most likely Thursday given the 6 day break.

Yeah I watched some of the VFL and he definitely returned, I was glad to see that, looked like a knee at the time. Cheers for the reply.

Thursday definitely the main session this week as mentioned in Peter Burge's latest Injury Report

Was the video of that report filmed today coz I saw Dusty there?

Peter Burge was live but don't believe all the accompanying training footage was, i certainly didn't see Dusty out there and as mentioned above there was a bit of a media circus there today so if Dusty was there it would have hit the airways by now.

Thanks Julius. Don't know why they bother mixing that in with today's stuff.

1 for our track watchers, has it looked like we are in a "hard training phase" & if so could that be a reason for us running out of legs?

I have been thinking the same. Heavy now so we get to peak fitness around 8 weeks in, not at the start of the year like we did in 2018. Dimma said as much after we ran out of juice and form at the business end of the season. We have in recent years tried to get to halfway with about 50/50 win/loss ratio then come home strong.

So Melbourne are doing it wrong? Trying to win every week.

I was using the same excuse last year especially after the loss v Swans. Turned out I was wrong and this year looking like a repeat

The losses have nothing to do with a heavy training load. Our system requires 100% commitment for 4 Qrts. We have too many weak links and get found out accordingly. Dimma drive us to success by creating a system that optimized the players skill sets. Now he’s looking for the players to optimize the system. We just don’t have the playing list to execute the system consistently at the moment.

In my opinion, it’s pretty simple really. We have too many of our better and critical players unavailable at this time. We need that to turn around fast or we will be also rans this season.
All of the sides up the top at present would struggle too if they had players the caliber of ours missing from their side.
The two games we’ve lost, we were in sound winnable positions but faded. They’ll work it out especially if we get our better players back

Training phases ? Huh ?

Traditionally hard training phases don’t occur until later in the year, leading up to the finals.

Not sure why we’d be going through a heavy training load 3 weeks into the season and after a looong pre season ?

Not sure about that easy to say when we get our better players back we did last year at times didn't work out or we didn't click it will help without a doubt, but not sure it's as simple as that think we have a few issues.
