Training For Redemption in 2022

Captains run today Wednesday :

OK Graham & Grimes trained making both a lock in my opinion.

It was a 24 squad minus Nank & George who are both available to play tomorrow night.

So we need 22 players plus a concussion sub.

The borderline or fitness doubtful players there today where : Mansel Dow Parker Pickett Graham Hugo Aarts, (i have Ross as a lock).

So given the above my team is :

Backs : Short Tarrant Rioli
HB : Broad Grimes Gibcus
Centre : Pickett Cotch Ross
HF : Baker Riewoldt Castagna
Fwds : Shai Lynch Balta

Followers : Dusty Nank Prestia

Interchange : Aarts Graham Shedda Soldo

Concussion Sub : Dow Parker Hugo or Mansel?

**Only problem with my team is the lack of anyone to rotate at half back so maybe Hugo for Aarts, (Aarts is a Dimma favorite though i think?)
I'm not sure Pickett makes the side sadly (possible sub)

Has been on the outs all preseason. I reckon they go with Aarts on the wing in his place, with Ralphsmith as the seventh defender off the bench.

Pickett may have been struggling with a bit of knee injury, had previously been taped pretty heavily, not so in his last 2 training sessions so hopefully a sign that he may be over it?.

Dimma has started Aarts on the wing a couple times so could be the preferred option but Marlion is more attuned to that position. Hugo a big possibility to be in for either Pickett or Aarts to provide better balance.

I reckon Aarts, Hugo and Marlion are the 3 in question. I personally think it will be Aarts on the wing, Hugo on the bench and Marlion as sub.

In saying that, I wouldn't be playing Graham. 3 sessions and a captains run since a back related hammy in January....too risky, not needed.

If Aarts plays a wing and Marlion doesn't,

im giving up footy

FAarts on the wing ? Maybe in the VFL
Surely Hugo or Pickett would be a better option

I will put my hard-earned on Carlton to win

if Aarts is on a wing and neither Kmac or Marlion are.

the Wings are so important in modern footy.

and Jake Aarts and Jack Ross are unimportant to modern footy.

A Richmond wingman needs to to run 15km concurrently with high-impact shoving and breaking ribs and getting the ball 20 times.

its why we sold Brandon Ellis.

edit: dodged a bullet by the barest of margins; Marlion on one wing, Ross and Aarts on the other. 1/2 a phew.

Believe Lamblett has already had several surgeries on his dodgy hips over the years n is basically trying to manage the issues as best he can. Trying to get to the point where he can play through the issues as there might not be a helluva lot left whether he has to go in for surgery again or not.
I’m not all hopeful tbh , afl std is too good to compete with a fkd hip

Training today Wednesday:

The great news :
Grimes and Dow trained at 100%
Good news : Stack who screamed in agony after suffering an arm injury in the VFL on weekend was training fully albeit left elbow heavily strapped.
Encouraging signs: Riewoldt although having a light session and sitting out a couple of drills was marking the ball well so sure to test himself out fully on Friday.
Slight concern for our brightest star : Shai in rehab today noticeably doing some hip flexor movements in between some half pace run-throughs. **Note : Peter Burge has said they have been managing Shai's loads as he deals with a hip issue, hopefully that is all it is.
Also on light duties : Graham & KMac, in relation to Kamdyn he came into last weeks match after missing round 1 with some sort of leg soreness. He was not at his monstering running best on weekend, when was the last time Kamdyn had only 150 metres gained?. (Once again hopefully it is no more than load management?)
Same Old same Old : Prestia and Tigga in rehab and no footy drills.
Absent : Caddy & Lambert.

**Note : Midweek session always the lighter one so Friday will tell more.

That's it, cheers everyone.

Thanks as usual for the effort you put in Caesar.
Graham obviously still being managed? Has provided limited impact in games due to his lack of pre season but was hoping he’d be ramping up by now.
Was impressed by some things Banks did on the weekend. Has he impressed you in any way on the track?

Thanks Caesar, top report as always. I believe Caddy hurt his hamstring in the VFL so that would explain his absence.

Banks was noticeable today for a nice contested mark and some bullet passes. We need to remember he is only a couple of weeks into full training but a lot to like.
