Training For 2023

@HKTigerB did they say they were going to have training on Monday as normal or maybe early?

Only asking because the squad is heading to the Golburn Valley for community events on Monday but I do notice that the events are late in the arvo so they may still have time to train before their 3 hour journey?

Richmond Community Events, Open to All Fans- Monday, February 13

MOOROOPNA COMMUNITY EVENT (with Junior X Clinic)

Where:
Mooroopna Recreation Reserve - Main Oval

When: Monday, February 13

Time: 4pm – 5.30pm

ECHUCA COMMUNITY EVENT (with Auskick Super Clinic)

Where:
Echuca South Oval

When: Monday, February 13

Time: 4pm-5pm
I believe players will be up here during the day, or at least some of them. The local high school is having a visit from certain stars of our team

Rather 9 pins now than in 7mnths time.
It doesn’t help with preparation though and what future risk may eventuate by being a bit behind/underdone.

As Caesar said, Lynch has not trained at full tilt the entire pre season. Hasn’t been in the main group for a second.

As others have said, from an injury perspective, this hasn’t been a great pre season. We must have about 10-11 guys or so in re-hab right now.

@caesar Just a thought here, you have mentioned some close finishes in match sims thus far, have we been splitting the teams up in order to get a tight finish so we can work on that area? Our close finishes in last 2 yrs have been terrible to say the least. 4-9-2 in 18pts or under games for last 2 yrs, 1-7-2 in 6pts or under games.
They faked the scores to "create" close finishes and practise last 2 minute drills. Did it twice in yesterday's Match Sim.

Channel 7 last night said Lynch is an “outside chance” of playing in our intraclub next Saturday. Must be back with the main group this coming week

Not too concerned about Lynch apart from a football touch perspective. Can just plod him in the square until he's upto full fitness.
Of the others we have good cover and from a positive note it does open up opportunities for those on the fringe.

Good luck with all of that.

Let’s hope so. But just 5 days in the main group for the entire pre season before lacing them up for a game has me a tad nervous. Would feel better if they gave him at least another week of full training first.

That system hasn’t been working too well ….for quite a while. We’ve had high injury quotas going back a fair way now.
What our system has lacked over the past few has been addressed in the trade period. As for the injuries.Age stops for no one.

Yeah I dunno. 9-10 players in re hab says otherwise.

Whether it’s bad luck, age, management, whatever…. I don’t know. But this has been going on since 2021 from my reckoning.

We have high injury volumes, and have for a while now.

Players missing 2-3-4 weeks of main training in an entire preseason is not a big deal, happens every year at every club. Now if we had 10-11 players missing the best part of an entire preseason like Lynch and Graham have, than I’d be concerned.

Sports pushing the envelop too far perhaps?

Dunno DD. As I say (and you say too), it could be a long run of bad luck, age, management…who the hell would know. All I know is that it’s been very frustrating for a few years now.

Sorry, bit late and should’ve asked yesterday but how did Young go playing on Dusty? I’m a big fan of his after watching him in the VFL last year
Dusty was good but not his blistering best. One bit of play I particularly noticed was Dusty leading out at full pace with Young basically at his side, Dusty tried to use his strength to manoeuvre Tylar out of the way so that the ball would pass and Dusty would double back onto the ball like he has done so many times in his career, Tylar held his ground and didn't let the ball behind.
Think Tylar will be like Grimes and Broad that can perform well on tall and mid size forwards.
I have been saying all pre-season I am a fan of Tylar.

Unfortunately there is a big gap between Lynch being fully fit (last year) and playing with injuries
2019 he kicked 63 goals after having no pre season. Reckon last year would’ve given him some confidence too, clunking plenty of marks and kicking accurately

Cotchin last night on Channel 7 said Dusty was at the Camp (they shared the same cabin) but Dusty kept away from the cameras.

Very badluck in regards to Dustys injury.
Meatballs you could say is managed at best we can.
Grimes=age.
Lets hope the badluck ends soon.
