Training For 2023

Training Today - 150 minute session & about 30 minutes of Match Sim

Firstly good turn out for open session and pleasantly surprised that the masses got to see not only the first match sim of the year but a pretty comprehensive set of drillls prior to that.
Pretty sure @tigerdell is pleased that he took his wavering young lad along and now has his sights firmly back in the tiger camp;).

Let's go straight to the Match Sim shall we:

Centre set-up
: Nank , Ryan, Hopper, Tarranto, Cotch, Sonz, Dow, George, Shai briefly
*Prestia did not do match sim.
*Soldo did not train.

Bang! Hopper explodes, (oh that's why we got him:)))
Sonz Taking the *smile* with his sublime delivery on his non preferred.
Ryan Gave a good account of himself against Nank, I am calling him an elite kick for a big man.
Duz Stayed forward but was powering up to half forward and forever a target and often the last to deliver into our forwards.
Bakes Whenever you said who was that tough nut that just did that? you knew it was Bakes.
Cotch Not taking a back seat, looked as impressive as anyone, I am sure his best mates are now Hopper and Taranto who are taking a load off.
Kaleb Smith Half back on JNR and gave him a bath some impressive moves and dash and even brought down Dusty who tried to steamroll through him.
Seth Cambell Has a lot of run this kid and was noticeable in several bits of play and earlier drills.
Cumberland Looking pretty powerful and roamed a bit further afield
Biggie Seemed to be a bit of a spare man in defence and was used a bit as an outlet.
Ross Not sure of his position was noticeable delivering into the fwd line on a few occassions.
Taranto Just solid and a comfort to have him in there.

A couple of match-ups:

Miller, (fwd) v Tarrant - (Miller did some relief ruck and also some ruck drills late on the bag so we may now know his role for 2023). Can also go back if required so will provide some much needed flexibility.
Tylar Young v Bradtke, (Tylar showed more promising glimpses as he did in earlier drills).

Rehab guy's:

Lynch : So glad he had that clean-up operation looking a bit better each time i see him.
Graham : Continuing to build his running.
Shorty : Still don't know why he is in there but was the life of the party in interacting with the crowd.
Marlion : Non contact drills and running, (bandaged thumb seems to be the issue)
Tigga : The cracked rib just has him running and a couple of non contact drills.

*Overall :
A lot to like today as long as we have Lynch for round 1 and most of the year we should all be looking forward to an exciting year.

** @tigerdell you're up:);)

Awesome, thanks caesar.

How did Narkle look in match sim and, albeit after one go at it, where are you seeing the Narkle v Bradtke dilemma?

Obviously Narkle will look better than Bradtke in match sim but that will not determine if they go for him or Bradtke.

Two different players and two different set of rules so I have no idea.

So Narkle got involved? Did he use his apparent new found endurance?

He was just OK got pinged and crunched in a tackle when taking too long.
Has skills.
Can you go into a bit more detail about Seth Campbell please Caeser

What position he was playing , His physical build and which player he most resembles and what position you see him playing

There was a lot going on so hard to go much deeper into Seth and match sim and other drills have have already blurred my memory , but it was in some circular drill work where he sort of started at half back and ran and overlapped right down the ground on a couple of occasions, once resulting in his own goal, I think match sim he was more crumbing forward.
What LITTLE i have seen he seems to have decent speed and work-rate, neat kick. Don't think he is much more than 180cm and pretty light.
Probably goes into the basket with Judson Clarke to find a Lambert type role?
In the VFL he may get some midfield time.

Anyway only a rookie's chance but we have done well with our rookie's so you never know.

felt sorry for Narkle standing in the middle of Punt Road on his own when everyone else were on the boundaries signing auto graphs, looked very much like he wanted to belong. ps very close to best 22 and trying his guts out. Surprised and very happy with Young, has size, skills and endeavour. Did not notice Bradke don't know if this is good or bad. Good vibes and spirit within the club, Cumberland and Samson great with the kids.

Turk i caught up with the doyen himself the big C today, we were chatting about how hard it was to recognise the young kids, to spot them in a crowd of 50 and keep track of them.
Then they bob up and you think to yourself have they been training like this all day?

Extra tough to spot as Campbell, Green and Smith are similar size, then Caesar pointed out Smith in the cap. Q
