Training For 2023

Going too hard with the dead lifting and in the squat rack probably! Did I read somewhere where he had put some size on in his upper legs and arse?

If it's a hammy tendon, that'll be surgery but if he's been smashing the leg and glute work it's not a huge surprise if it is and sounds initially that it more than likely is.
It was a really unfortunate incident, non natural movements in stumble and then similar in avoidance attempt, i were worried right away.

This Gibcus news makes me Sickcus.

Better than a knee but makes it hard for him to have a significant impact this year.

Heavy training loads and natural growth spurts can both be contributing factors.
Hope the club was monitoring his strength and conditioning program and not leaving it to his own devices over the break.
No matter how you look at it, it’s never good when a young player does a hammy. Historically with young players, it sends a message and sets a precedent that he’ll have to be carefully monitored moving forward.
He’ll have Grimes to reassure him and help him through rehab.
It’s not Bupkis, but definitely a positive it’s not a knee or serious ankle injury

The first of Meehan's Hammies. Not a good start. Hopefully his record is better than the Burgess Queen's.

Our glamour 2yo colt has a serious tendon injury. Unfortunate. But Bart Hardwick is not in the business of winning Golden Slippers. Let the Poor Flopelaides of the world flog their thoroughbreds until they're cart horses. Bart's about Melbourne Cups. You don't win Melbourne Cups with 2yos. And you don't ruin 2yos that'll win you one when they're 5. Paddock. Lick wounds.

Luckily we have champions in every position we'd want to risk our colt if he were fit. They should be able to cover for him.

Well - worst case for Gibs is 3 months rehab if it’s at the top end of the scale for serious hammies - maybe miss through to the bye as they would treat him carefully I would suspect.

Agree better than a knee though.

Thanks Caesar for the update

Well google is not your friend when looking up injuries, could be 3-6 months, jumping at shadows i know but am fearing the worst but hoping for the best.

Hamstring Tear Rehab

After your initial recovery on crutches, your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist will create a treatment plan to slowly increase your range of motion and build strength. You will use physical therapy exercises to build up your strength so you can return to regular activity. It takes up to three months after surgery for most people to function normally.

For high-level and recreational athletes, your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist will create a “return to sport” protocol that takes three to six months and prepares you to get back to training and competition.

You may have some irritation after returning to normal training and activities. This is a result of scar tissue breaking up around the surgery site as your tendons get used to doing more activity.

Hopefully the scans can see it's not as bad. I've seen other teams' players have this relief. Time we got it too.

I was wondering who Ken Hinkley was in my racing metaphor. Then it hit me. He's Harry Telford. He just doesn't have Phar Lap. Bart does. (Which is a bit unfair.)

Harry Hinkley could probably have stolen a Melbourne Cup, if only he'd had Dustin Lap. It is a wonder though that he keeps thrashing 2yos in the sand hills when it's never worked for him before.

Rozee's no Phar Martin. But he could be a Fiorente.

Hey. Maybe Ken's Gai? He likes a frontrunner.

Could be very serious tendon tear where it pulls off some bone or a full thickness tear or a partial tear. Scans will tell us.

Gibcus missing the first few weeks does not really upset the Tigers structure especially in defence.

Balta or Grimes or Tarrant however does.
