Training For 2023

Well google is not your friend when looking up injuries, could be 3-6 months, jumping at shadows i know but am fearing the worst but hoping for the best.

Hamstring Tear Rehab

After your initial recovery on crutches, your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist will create a treatment plan to slowly increase your range of motion and build strength. You will use physical therapy exercises to build up your strength so you can return to regular activity. It takes up to three months after surgery for most people to function normally.

For high-level and recreational athletes, your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist will create a “return to sport” protocol that takes three to six months and prepares you to get back to training and competition.

You may have some irritation after returning to normal training and activities. This is a result of scar tissue breaking up around the surgery site as your tendons get used to doing more activity.
Just get him right for Finals going by that.

Whilst it looking pretty bad for Gibcus im hoping its not as bad as it appears and his reaction is because he has not done a hamstring before but if it is as bad as presumed he will most likely be out for 6 months i would think which would mean around Round 18 /19

So basically most of the season and back for finals if we require him

Just on a similar injury but to a more seasoned player Nick Riewoldt back in 2010

St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt will make his much-awaited return from a serious hamstring injury this weekend.

Riewoldt has been named at full forward in St Kilda’s squad for Saturday night’s clash against Brisbane at the Gabba.

The return ends three months on the sidelines for Riewoldt, who underwent surgery in April to repair a torn hamstring tendon, suffered as he reached for a mark in St Kilda’s round three clash against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.

There was plenty of speculation about when the superstar would again take to the field, with some suggesting he would not be back before the finals.

But an intensive recovery program, including the use of a ''simulated-altitude'' training caravan at Moorabbin, funded by long-time St Kilda benefactor Gerry Ryan, founder of Jayco caravans, sees the forward return almost exactly three months after going under the knife.
While the return will be greeted enthusiastically by Saints fans and his teammates "

I was wondering who Ken Hinkley was in my racing metaphor. Then it hit me. He's Harry Telford. He just doesn't have Phar Lap. Bart does. (Which is a bit unfair.)

Harry Hinkley could probably have stolen a Melbourne Cup, if only he'd had Dustin Lap. It is a wonder though that he keeps thrashing 2yos in the sand hills when it's never worked for him before.

Rozee's no Phar Martin. But he could be a Fiorente.

Hey. Maybe Ken's Gai? He likes a frontrunner.
Got me wondering who was the trainer of the infamous Drongo. Couldn't find it :(

The “simulated altitude” thing was at the peak of high altitude mania in the AFL. No one does it anymore.

The only kid we picked up in the 1st round that's any good goes and rips the muscle off the bone.
We are cursed with 1st rounders

The curse of the hammy strikes again - how many others will be cursed?

Is it our ground?

If its totally off the bone and surgery is required then it could easily take 6 months and for a young player the club will be overly cautious and most likely bring him back with limited game time gradually increasing over a 3-4 week period through the VFL

Rehabilitation

Rehab following surgery takes about 3-6 months or longer before athletes can return to sports. The first six weeks are confined to limited weight-bearing with the use of crutches. Patients may wear a brace to limit the amount of tension on the repaired hamstring tendons.

Following that early phase of rehabilitation, people will gradually increase the range of motion. Significant strengthening will not begin until at least three months postoperatively, and even light jogging activities are typically delayed beyond that
