Training For 2023

I’m not writing Brown off at all but I have concerns if his endurance is that bad. RCD was looking a good prospect too apart from his ability to run out games…”it will come” “has time” “will work on it” - never happened.

I’ve got gout atm from too much beer and fish. I wish I had plantar. Seriously though I’ve had both. This is bad but easy enough to treat. Spare a thought for me as Mrs Snags is dragging me limping all around London.
Get on the Turmeric Snags, fixed my gout.

Tried all them from around 2011-2019, but eventually had to listen to the Doc as I couldn't take it no more, he put me on Allopurinol, to get the uric acid levels down. Tried 100mg then 200mg tablet but uric acid was still over the range. Halfway through 2019, been on one 300mg tablet a day and it seems to have cured it.

Haven't had an episode for over 3 years now and I totally agree, I'd take them fiddling around with my heart again than having gout, that mofo kills you man!! A bed sheet touches it and you're gone. Got some absolutely crazy photos' of the foot resting up on the bedhead redder than a tomato.

Been able to have a few 8-12 beer (Dunkel pints) and schnapps sessions at the Hofbrauhaus last year and this year with my boss, and I can brush off a packet of Chocolate Bullets or Black Jelly Beans in one setting, without any complications no worries!! ;)

Oddly similar first years in the VFL for RCD and Brown. Both averaged a little over 14 disposals per game. Both showed some encouraging signs but also disappeared completely in some games.

Too many around here are getting too worked up over time trial results. Ultimately it’s how you play the game that matters, not how fast you can run 2km or how many laps off PRO you can complete in 7min. Having said that, there are some early signs that Brown is struggling to make the grade but there may be some extenuating circumstances we are not aware of.

I’m a firm believer that good players adapt quickly and improve rapidly once they enter the AFL system. Barring injury they should be playing regularly by the end of their third season, fourth if they are a kpp. There are of course exceptions to this rule but they are just that, exceptions. Brown needs to get moving in 2023 and at the very least start performing consistently at VFL level but ideally make his debut at AFL and play at least a few games.

Who knows? It is one aspect of his conditioning and training and as someone else said his burst speed over shorter distances is more important. I am sure the club is working with him on it.
I’ve watched him a few times in vfl games and a couple of those have been live and I like what he brings. He is very good overhead and uses the ball very well but seems to struggle with consistency.
He is a very skilled player and there is a lot to work with

Apart from the moon boot and crutches.

It's certainly right to say it's not a huge concern from a medical point of view in terms of his season, it won't cost him a lot of footy, if he can handle the pain and they get the jabs right it won't even cost him games.

The issue is would I expect someone with this condition at this stage of the year to have the best season of their lives? Absolutely not.

So then it becomes a question of where you balance what he can give you vs what you need. If he can play at 85% all year with it do you take that, or do you take zero for a month and another 6 weeks to build so you get 100% for the second half of the season?

These are the hard decisions that footy teams live and die by.

Gout is certainly no joke to those that suffer. Mine is relatively mild. My dad had it bad. His feet looks like he was tortured by some cruel dictator. I need to up my uric acid meds.
Sorry for diverting the thread all! Back to your scheduled programming…

Sometimes you can divert man. Who doesn't work flat chat for an hour or two, then someone walks past and it's footy talk for a bit

Good luck to you and your old man :notworthy:

Back to scheduled programming.

We need to talk about the Beast Tim Taranto.

Coming to our club and beating the best runners we've got convincingly, no wonder Kamdyn is hiding in Santa suits!!

If he can't run out games at 19 when will he? When he is 34??
I have no issue in the kid but he was our 1st pick wouldn't you pick a kid that has endurance in his Cv?
They aren't good at drafting, there Intel is back to the Greg Beck years.

Interesting that your sarcasm got more likes than the posting of the actual training report.
Says a lot about this site these days doesn’t it?

So DA is the Lynch injury a non-issue and just precautionary???

He hasn't been training for 3 weeks culminating in the boot and crutches.

I'd love the latest report to be correct, was it a source in the know rather than just my casual observation?

I simply forwarded an alternative training report from someone on Twitter that I thought may be of interest to everyone.
Not sure of the strength of the source but provides some interesting detail.

On boot and crutches could indicate he has had a procedure to loosen it which will take 4-6 weeks to heel but there shouldn’t be any ongoing management required. It’s probably a good time to have it in early preseason

He also goes on to add extra praise onto Judson Clarke.
Reckons he’s spent time in the gym and looks totally focused and committed on the training track which has been duly noticed by the coaches.
