Training For 2023

Shame about Lynch but every crisis creates an opportunity and my boy Gibcus might get his opportunity to shine as a forward in Lynch’s absence.

On Taranto. Staggering to think a player with that kind of size, running ability and capacity to find the ball was left to rot on the half forward line in his last couple of years at GWS. The capacity for the expansion teams to truly *smile* up talent continues to surprise and astonish. Long may it continue…

Yes endurance wise he was poor last year so i were hoping for an uptick, his draft profile said speed and athleticism and said he can play off a wing but he won't be seeing wing time at Richmond at this rate.
His profile did not say he had an endurance issue like they did RCD but it doesn't look that great, he might be limited to playing back where he can use vertical leap and footy smarts and short distance speed, (if he has got it).
To answer @spook question, Brown does appear to have put on some size.

@Little Ziggyadee will pleased that Clangerfield is saying that Max Holmes, (the player that Geelong picked with our 1st round pick exchange), is an aerobic beast with Judd-like traits with the ability to become the best player in the comp.
The quicker we get rid of Clarke the better at this rate.

I posted the article yesterday in the 2022 draft thread and haven’t heard from Zips since.
Hope I haven’t killed him!

Athletes come in 2 types essentially. Power or Endurance.
Tom may be in the first category but the fact his endurance is so poor is a massive concern. If he is this great athlete you would assume he would be technically a good runner which would translate somewhat across from sprints to endurance.
One big asterisk here. All footy programs (AFL, NAB etc..) do some form of time trial, yet they NEVER train for this type of event. My son’s Oakleigh Chargers Xmas running program has a 3min run as it’s longest continuous effort with most focus on efforts between 20sec and 90sec. A heavy fatigue type program (which I hate) but designed to build tolerance to in game fatigue. These programs will do little to improve a 2km TT.
So unless Tom adopts an endurance program of a 1500m runner his times won’t be improving.

I recall reading somewhere that Narkle is a very close and long standing friend of Shai Bolton. Is that correct?
I wonder whether he has had a lot to do with it ?
Not advocating for him but the best footy I saw him play was the first half of the 2019 prelim. Followed the rest of the Cats into 2nd half oblivion however !!
narkle is brother of shais partner

We are lucky we won flags on the back of trading in players

Because these blind mice have destroyed the draft with our 1st rounders.

If Holmes finishes top 5 in the B&,F next year, I'm going down there to get them out.

LHow more can I add to the list of woeful high picks Its beyond a joke now.
Wasnt Brown picked up Because he was a gazelle off half back. He got lapped twice in 9 laps. Didn't they mix up Gazelle with a Wombat??

Brown said soon after he was drafted in a club interview that he doesn’t have great endurance. He’s not bloody wrong. That he was a high pick sure is a head scratcher given what we usually look for. Early days but sheesh.

Unless you are 200 plus cam’s at this level no one should be getting lapped.

Why is it that so many say Dangerfield is a flog but when he says something like that he is no longer a flog?
Maybe because it suits the narrative ?
Holmes has the potential to be a good player but that’s ridiculous

Tom Brown at pick 17 (particularly for our needs) is still a head scratcher for me. Hope he comes on as he was a big investment.
The kid we re trialing Luke teal would appear a replica of TB either our wise heads see this part of the team being a cornerstone going forward or we re not confident we got it covered , I think the former as we have absolutely loaded up on intercepting backs and I feel the view is the last line of deface is where we gonna be stacked under todays rules

Do u reckon we can stooge that clown Mackie
And get a 1st rounder back.
Simliar to Coleman Jones & Higgins
And the use the pick to trade with Gc

Certainly a possibility, but I think it is more likely they are trying to give it absolute rest over the break and see where it sits.
I agree Large Son of Bull. they maybe having a crack at getting him off his feet for a little bit to see if that can help.

Far from ideal, and fingers and toes crossed it settles as soon as possible.
