Training For 2023

I saw it a bit differently, it was near the boundary and he appeared to get in a tangle of legs with oscar allen
Anyrhing more than a knock/cork would’ve been on the injury report surely? It was a very in-depth report this week

The injury appeared to be sustained when running full speed (no impact or collision) at contest near boundary in 3rd quarter. Appears to be a soft tissue injury.
He was stretching it at the goalpost in the 1st quarter too - got a bit concerned but didnt notice anything after that.. hope he plays

Just watching the replay Balta was injured in the first quarter. Looked to be a knock to his shin.

He played a great game too. Generally beat Allen and whoever, although Allen is too good to not get some opportunities; then kicks very accurately. (Gee imagine if we selected him instead of bloody Higgins).

But if Noah can't play, we are going to get absolutely belted even more than I expect. Young on Big Shove!? That could become a nasty case of child abuse.

If we'd picked Allen West Coast would have picked Balta.

Damn! I'll have to trust your superior draft knowledge on that.
So I can't 'have my cake and eat it' too. (Just every time I see Higgins kick another goal for the Aints ,,, I feel rather bitter and twisted!)

Difficult choice between Noah and Oscar. But I'll stick with Noah - he's ours now in all his glory. :D

Just went and had another look at that draft out of interest. The Weagles took Brander at 13 so I doubt they'd have taken another KPP. Took Liam Ryan at 26 (with Noah at 24, of course). A pretty good selection there - not sure they weren't targeting him preferably?

But your point remains - someone else would most likely have got NB. But, gees, we took CCJ at 20. Worse choice than Higgins - since he can really play. But I feel better seeing some other clubs picks - Bloos P. Dow at 3 & O'Brien at 10, Skunks J. Stephenson at 6, Aints Clark & Coffield at 7/8 (not clear winners yet IMO), Ducks M. Ling at 14, GWS Bonar at 11.

It's good to be reminded of what a lottery it is. But it's noticeable that some clubs getting early picks pretty right e.g. Dogs and Lions that year.

And we would then have taken Sam Taylor
So forward and defensive bookends for 12-13 year careers perhaps. (y)

Btw, despite having the apparent attributes of big, strong, high-marking and booming, straight (?) kicking. ability to barge through opponents (or even his coach!), Noah Balta cannot make a KPF.

But that is because of his eyesight I believe. I never knew at the time I argued for him going forward that his vision is bat-like, especially at night I think. Just cannot read the ball flight sharply enough it seems.

Some think they can. Then they cry when you point it out.

But they did - Allen!
Someone must have told them sometime after pick 13 that Brander was going to be a dud. :p

And so re KPP selections, both clubs took one star and one dud.

I hope the addition of Biggie doesn’t spell trouble for Balta

Biggie is absurdley athletic and incredibly easy to displace in equal measures.

Im not against him playing,

But if he goes within a 50m radius of hawkins, for anymore than the briefest moment,

Hawkins will lay a strong claim to the Coleman Medal

Maurice rioli junior would give more in the ruck than ben miller,

But i would fear what rucking on the MCG in front of 50,000 could do to Biggie.

In the VFL ruck, he avoids contact as if the oppo ruckman has ebola.

His athleticism allows it to be effective sometimes at that level,

But id worry about it at AFL level?

Having become a late onset fan of Mac Andrew, and at the obvious risk of me racially profiling,

biggie is a similar athletic intercept defender to me, which he could do outside Hawkins radius

But Theres plenty of blokes who have watched him live vastly more closely than me.
