Training For 2023

Captain's Run Today Saturday:

Beautiful sunny morning and good turnout to a member reward invite open training session.

Nothing much to report except all named squad members and emergencies there and accounted for so none the wiser who may be sub but
I will put my money on Clarke although they may want to get120 minutes into him in the VFL to work on a few things. A definite no to Hugo and you never have two games as a sub in a row. Dimma already said no to Bauer this week he is just in there to acknowledge his good form. That just leaves the boring option of Mansell and not many here would think him capable of being a super sub.

Set Goal Kicking Practice Today:

No wind, perfect conditions and it was quite a shock in how poor they were in general with several laughing every time they missed, I know it is a mickey mouse feel good session but i don't think you would be deliberately missing shots at goal in front of decent supporter turn out.

Biggest surprise was Sonsie only kicking about 5 goals out of about 15 set shots, (no exaggeration), o_O spraying them wide either side, he was working in tandem with Hugo who was just as woeful.

**Maybe Sonz is playing possum to make sure Dimma has no plans of putting him fwd rather than mid;)

I wish we had two of Daniel a beautiful kick on the run and set shot he did not miss, (he would solve our small fwd and pressure issue in one hit), but more important as our initiator off halfback.

Great post Julius. I saw Cumbo's instagram showing him line up (without the hop?.....could've been cut out) kicking a bender on his left. Somehow concerns me on this 'easy' attitude they have at training some times. Surely Mansell will be sub.....Dimma wouldn't resist.

The hop is still there, Cumbo was nailing a decent percentage of his shots.

A good experience for the younger lads, playing in the Dees game.
The young rucks and defenders were caught out of position down the line, when Gawn blocked for van Rooyen, only 194 cm.
They tried to guard the corridor but should have pushed Jacob out of position or punched to boundary.
Two crucial goals when scores were level.
Still, it's invaluable experience in a major game.

So it's a thing.

Bauer at the end of todays training was having shots at goal 40m out about 15m from boundary being watched by Hugo and Sonz
Bauer misses 5/5 shots at goal all to RH behind post or out of bounds
No wonder he’s been put in the backline
Out of the emergencies I expect Mansell :bash to be named as super dud for tomorrow’s game

i gotta say Ceasar, as much as im very grateful for your reports, they never fill me with any confidence whatsoever.

I only had my complimentary beverage but you could pay for egg and bacon sandwiches, snags etc. Unlike @tigerdell I did not seek out the face painter despite his previous first hand recommendation ;)
I tell youse, get a toastie and yer face painted

If it ain’t working change it ,,,,

So if the game is on the line, with our habitual Q4 fade-outs, it will be up to Ryan to stop Witts dominating the stoppages and CBs, including deep in their FL?
It will be man V boy.
Dumb and dumber for mine. (We have such a great record against GCS and at MS too !!)
Or we could have Soldo without a game this year coming off a big injury with no fitness totally cooked and doing another injury or just getting smashed around the ground because he has no games under his belt

That could work out well also

Or Maybe we just bring on a fresh Ryan to run Witts around and jump over him

I think the former is more likely than the latter. Ryan cannot match it with the much stronger/heavier experienced rucks yet, even if fresh. But he is showing promise, has a future.

Prophetic. As opposed to the kicking which is pathetic
