Training For 2023

Richmond need to have a review of our entire fitness dept as well as our assistant coaches at the end of the year

The amount of soft tissue injuries that have occurred this year is unacceptable and the assistants need to be given a rocket

There is no way this team should be this bad

Hopefully AFL lift the footy ops salary cap too. Or we can find an innovative way of rewarding Dimma outside the cap ;)

Main Training Today:

Once again more of a welfare update:

Biggie, Bradtke back with main group.

The main positive : Gibcus joined main group for warm-up and kicking, did some re-hab running and then joined the boys for goal kicking at the end so definitely progressing now.

Soldo looked ok.

Caesar's Captain's Run player watch for tomorrow:
Riewoldt, walked over to rehab after 30 minute warm-up today and then proceeded to do about 10 slow run throughs and some discussion with fitness staff and then left the track. Hopefully he is right but a bit of a watch.

Say it ain't so:
Graham who was mooted to play this week not out there at all until very late and only walked a couple of laps with Lynch, (has he had a setback?)

Other:
Kaleb Smith who was doing a fair bit of running 2 weeks ago also came out late and was only walking laps with Seth Campbell, (don't think we will get to see much of these boys this year :( ).

Nank just walking.

Prestia did the warm-up and some running

Tarrant some running and a small amount of bodywork with Gibcus.

Brown, (wrist), just running no ball walk, (endurance a Brown weakness so surely 10 weeks of being able to do nothing but run should be of some benefit?)

JNR just his some run throughs for his hammy.

No Colina.

Thanks Caesar.

With 6 day breaks coming up I suspect Jack would be on a very modified program.

Good to see Gibbo progressing. Can't wait to see him back. Would Brown be in the same situation as what Butler was when he started (been out for 2 seasons with injuries until he became a regular from 2017?). I reckon Mate is here just for a holiday.

The boys only walking laps may be utilising the UltraG inside to get miles in their legs but the fact they’re not running on grass suggests they’re not ready to progress to weight bearing work

That is the flatest training report ever posted on this great forum.
There's not 1 ounce of inner excitement or anticipation of our up coming game this weekend.
You might need a vacation litte Caesar.

@caesar, what is your view on Soldo running out a full game? I haven't heard you talking about him burning up the track in any recent reports. Are you surprised he's straight back in based on his training form?

I commented in my lasted training report that it was the most I have seen Soldo do at training for a long time as until then I wondered where he was at, he was not jumping though to keep pressure off his foot.
I'm surprised he isn't coming back and doing limited minutes in the VFL so I am not expecting great output in AFL but the rush to include is understandable.

It's either an underdone Soldo or taking on someone like Miller who simply is not aggressive enough or good enough to ruck at AFL level. I'd take an underdone Soldo every time.

100%. We’re in no position to be *smile* farting around against probably the in form ruck in the competition (Jarrod Witts).

I'd never take an underdone anybody. It literally never works out. In the modern game where endurance is king, underdone players (not to mention underdone lumbering rucks!!) are a deadset liability.
