Training For 2023

I commented in my lasted training report that it was the most I have seen Soldo do at training for a long time as until then I wondered where he was at, he was not jumping though to keep pressure off his foot.
I'm surprised he isn't coming back and doing limited minutes in the VFL so I am not expecting great output in AFL but the rush to include is understandable.
Im thinking he will get subbed out just after half time if we dont get an injury and they will just be getting time into him at senior level

Cant see him playing out the entire game

Main Training Today:

Once again more of a welfare update:

Biggie, Bradtke back with main group.

The main positive : Gibcus joined main group for warm-up and kicking, did some re-hab running and then joined the boys for goal kicking at the end so definitely progressing now.

Soldo looked ok.

Caesar's Captain's Run player watch for tomorrow:
Riewoldt, walked over to rehab after 30 minute warm-up today and then proceeded to do about 10 slow run throughs and some discussion with fitness staff and then left the track. Hopefully he is right but a bit of a watch.

Say it ain't so:
Graham who was mooted to play this week not out there at all until very late and only walked a couple of laps with Lynch, (has he had a setback?)

Other:
Kaleb Smith who was doing a fair bit of running 2 weeks ago also came out late and was only walking laps with Seth Campbell, (don't think we will get to see much of these boys this year :( ).

Nank just walking.

Prestia did the warm-up and some running

Tarrant some running and a small amount of bodywork with Gibcus.

Brown, (wrist), just running no ball walk, (endurance a Brown weakness so surely 10 weeks of being able to do nothing but run should be of some benefit?)

JNR just his some run throughs for his hammy.

No Colina.
Was Baker training with the mids or forwards? Hopefully the mids

I'd never take an underdone anybody. It literally never works out. In the modern game where endurance is king, underdone players (not to mention underdone lumbering rucks!!) are a deadset liability.
Exactly. And if we bring him back prematurely so that he breaks down , losing Soldo for another 4/5 wks, it's just stupid. How about just putting some heat on Miller to lift his effort. He attends a contest, then almost stands back and watches instead of follow up efforts at stoppages around the ground. Took an encouraging CM in Q4 though.

Size helps with the ruck and Witts is a top-liner (who was available about the same time we grabbed Nank btw) but effort goes a long way. I just don't think enough is being expected of Miller. He's the same size as Nank but needs more direction and encouragement (& demands). We have had him on the list for what, 6 years?

Time to step up. It's called coaching. Bring big Ivan back if he's 100% right.

Hasn't he rested all ready?
He has done Sweet FA this year..not sure if the new kids have upset his game.
Looks out of sorts all season.

Have you paid any attention to other posters and threads, Zips? It's been constantly reported that Prestia is probably recovering from that torn pectoral muscle, an injury that can take several weeks.
Dimma has just said today that " ... he's been playing sore."

So just 'zip' it.

So if the game is on the line, with our habitual Q4 fade-outs, it will be up to Ryan to stop Witts dominating the stoppages and CBs, including deep in their FL?
It will be man V boy.
Dumb and dumber for mine. (We have such a great record against GCS and at MS too !!)

@caesar, what is your view on Soldo running out a full game? I haven't heard you talking about him burning up the track in any recent reports. Are you surprised he's straight back in based on his training form?
I imagine that he’ll be subbed out at some point , interestingly we have miller and Ryan still

He’s been playing sore - That’s an indictment on team selection. Why go in to matches admittedly one down, especially in the middle?

Never said I agreed with the policy or practice; I just object to posters taking shots at Prestia when he's busting his gut for the team under an injury cloud.
Actually, I also don't agree with playing injured men. But it's probably Dimma et al, showing a lack of confidence in our youth, guys like Ross who cannot get a decent run of games that might enable him to step up. Like his refusal to play Cumbo in early games, because 'he was too like Dusty' in style!!

Either way it hasn't worked for him (Prestia) or us.

Why do you reckon? The coaches are plain stupid?

One can only assume that they feel a semi-fit Prestia offers more than the next mid to come in.

Injured or not Injured he has been part of reason we have started this year like shiit.

That's what I'm saying
Who's the Fkwits at the club selecting him.
He hasn't chased all year
We have one main guy in charge - apparently the highest paid coach in the AFL, making the calls. Again stated today that we have been within a goal of most teams in the final Q in lost matches.
Yes, Dimma, I'd say that was true many times last year too. So what have you changed at all? Just gave me a heady dose of 'deja vu'. Groundhog day.

He trying to hold on.
His biggest Achilles heal
as a coach is he has his favourites and non favourites.
If your a favourite you can have 2 yrs of shitt football and he will select you.
But the non favourites get 1qtr to preform all they are out.
We aren't winning shiit this year.
So why play Prestia if he is injured? Are they scared Kano might highlight he is injured again??
Prestia has had only 14 tackles.
0 against Adelaide
And 7 against Collingwood
With 2, 2, 3 in the other games. That's not the Prestia I know. He attacks and tackles.

I think it’s crazy that after seeing him struggle, they kept picking him. As an example, Jack Ross did reasonably well against the much vaunted Collingwood and was dropped. He could have filled in and allowed the Meatball a break.

Come on man
Your speaking too much sense.
Injured player over fully fit player.
Imagine how Ross and Sony would feel like.
Busting a gut to get a game and hardwick and his Muppet brigade McQualter & Teague selected a injured Prestia.

We ain't exactly spoiled for choice & have too many out atm, we only had 27 players to chose from last week as it was.

I see zips as being like the guy in the old Jila mints had, bagging out some player called Wilson every time he goes near the ball.

"You're a wimp Griffens! You're useless Griffens! C'mon Griffens! You're a useless wimp Griffens! What do you come here for?'
