Training For 2023

Lynch, Sonsie, Broad, Baker expected to get some game time on Saturday. Graham less likely it seems, possibly.

Pickett and Tarrant a no.

We need to settle players in positions, no more moving Bakes and Shorty around.

The only advantage I see with Short playing mid is that he can really deliver the ball in deep. If we've isolated a forward it could work. But we have better options

You need an outside mid,

But ours are dusty and $hai.

Im pretty sure Bakes is going at 100% 3 brownlow votes when he attends 70% centre bounces?
If that factoid was remotely true we'd probably play him there more.

Im pretty sure Marlion gets Norm Smith votes 100% of the time he attends significant centre bounces too???
Ahh, the old secret weapon we only use in Grand Finals, old Hooch is a crafty devil. Don't want to use it on the regular. Haven't used it on the regular since that grand final, maybe 48 odd games ago. Won another flag without deploying the secret weapon but it's gonna happen now. He's a wingman, a darn good one but he ain't a centre square onballer. 1.3 clearances a game last year. He's a hardman but he ain't an onballer.

I think youve temporarily left the planet on this statistical analyses scoop?

I think you forgot to apply a correction factor of 1/X, X being your opinion on a football matter, if @The Big Richo lends his full contrarian weight to your argument

Looks like Short is a mid. Interesting watch this week to see if the role holds this week.

Yep, I've lost it, one of the more outrageous thought bubbles to emerge from my keyboard. Couldn't care if it's the Big Richo/Sheeds or Waheed Ali agrees but Big Richo didn't need the cheap shot.

Talk of Baker being a mid is folly, he needs to bed down a position. If Short played as bad a final as Baker did up in Brisbane it would be posted on here daily.

It would appear he is back and Short is a mid.

Marlion has barely been in a centre square for stoppages, he is a winger in our system.
Our defence always looks better with the little general down back ,sure he can cameo here and there but he’s a back pocket plumber

If I was to pick one team that we needed Tarrant to line up against, it's Carlton.

Far from ideal if he misses

especially if Broad isn't 100% right as well

Broad's cover defense and spread from D50 is very good

Gibcus, Broad and Tarrant all injured and Grimes showing signs his paper strength strings are a week-to-week proposition doesn't bode well for a defence that leaked more than the Titanic last season.

Yeah shame about Gibcus, just hope he makes it back 100% with no recurrence. Mids will have to win midfield battle against Blues
