Trade Week - Richmond Only

Yeah, Blair has said we're open to anything, but was reported as saying we'd not accept sliding backwards to get pick 3 from West Coast. I couldn't imagine pick 2 would be much different.

Blair is keeping the poker face up. We have nothing to lose. If we dont get 2, North either take Tauru early, or they take a mid and Tauru gets taken by Melb. Either way, a really good player is falling to 6. Maybe Langford, maybe Smillie.
We will get another good mid in 25, one that hopefully can contribute as a game breaker. Lalor and Langford would be a good start this year. Throw in Reid or another mid type at 10/11, there's a core.

Jesus the draft is taking forever.

If North were ok with 6 and 11 for 2 and F1, would they also be interested in 10, 11 and 23 for 2 and F1?

Ie. replacing the trade of 6 with 10 and 23.

If we did that, our midfield would be fixed in 2 drafts pretty much in terms of the key cogs, then its building around them with later picks.

Lalor, FOS, Smith / Langford and Sharp next year.

We would lose a pick (23) but significantly improve both 10 and 11 IMO. If North get lucky, they could end up picking both Tauru and Armstrong at 10 and 11.

I want a key forward, the best we can get, this draft. They take earlier to come on, and we'll get mids next year.
We passed on JVR. I want Armstrong if he's available or another by 11. Not too comfortable falling back to pick 18. That's a Griffiths, Todd Elton type range. Too risky for me.

It's also Oscar Allen type range.

Why do we need a key forward when we have Kosi?

They could be right. If we have committed to taking Colina as a rookie, it may have to be as a Category A rookie. I don't think he qualifies as a cat B again as he has previously been on a list- ours. So we will have to elevate two rookies to do this, not one.

Maybe.

Grey area.

Shouldn't do it anyway. At worst, the 8th player that we draft should be with the first pick in the Rookie Draft and should be the best leftover player after the National Draft, that won't be Colina. He is like 100th best. At best.
Yeah, maybe. from memory we were going to ask for permission to put Mate back on the Cat B list.
He should be eligible. He hasnt played a game in the last 3 years.

But if we do have to put him on the normal rookie list, I would hope we get down to 6 picks in the 1st round, so we keep the 1st rookie pick.

How many Oscar Alllen types do you find compared to Todd Elton, Griffiths, Jayden Post, CCJ?

No thanks. We've ignored KPF too long. Blue ribbon stocks please, not speculative types.

F1 is a lottery
We saw what happened with the Dawks this year
I just wouldnt give up 3 firsts in the 2024 superdraft

Big difference with the Hawks, they'd won 8 and 7 games in 2022 and 2023. North have won 3 in each of the last 2. They aren't rebounding into finals. Worst case scenario that future 1st is Pick 7 or 8.

Not sure about blue ribbon but thought Fawcett really showed something when he was finally able to get on the park towards the end of the season. Attacks the contest and has a very high IQ.
Saying that, I also thought Archie May did too but he’s now left and playing in the SAFL next season so I might not be the best judge.

Very interesting idea.

What do we lose?
I,m keen on 10 and 11 because we could get 2 of Lindsay, Allen, Berry, Travaglia. Or Armstrong.
But it sounds like XL might head to St K. And the others are possibly only part time mids. Good players but probably solid mids at best.
Or a key forward, but there is a dozen waiting at 18.
And pick 23 has scope but its likely to be an outside mid/flanker, which we get each draft. I'd have Moraes as the example.

What do we gain?
Getting p2 and keeping 1 and 6 would likely give us 3 of Lalor FoS Jagpipes Draper Langford.
Three!

And some doofus from the lazy 25 class.

Lalor FoS Langford f6
Or
Lalor Langford Allan Berry Moraes
