Trade talk 2019/20

Article in today's Hun regarding Colonwood's trade out dilemma. Trelol on $ 4.5 mill over 5 years or $900 thou per year n Colonwood generously offering to pay $ 100 thou a year to facilitate a trade :rotfl1 :rotfl1 :rotfl1. Then of course there's the other two, Phillips and Stephenson also on $500 thou per year who they're also desperately shopping around.
Absolutely hoping nobody bothers to alleviate Colonwoods self inflicted issues in any way n all three players lock the bastards into their existing contracts.

Bloody amazed Eddie hasn't authorised a thorough review of Colonwoods situation n sacked whoever it was that negotiated all these magnificent deals for the players over the last few years.
Kerr, Mayne, Beams, Cox, Trelol, Stephenson, Phillips, DeGoey, Mihocek, Moore. All with issues n dramas surrounding their contract value n renewal etc over the last of years.
Love the fact that Colonwood has got a heap of *smile* on it's hands n publicly having that *smile* smeared all over it's face at the moment, but it's *smile* disgraceful that so many of their players deals have been so poorly organised n they're now being dragged through managements *smile* pile.

No to Trelol. We have some exciting juniors coming through in that position.

I love Hartley's take on the never ending rebuild and how it doesn't happen in one draft. He seemed very happy at Richmond and loves the club and all the people in it. He did say it's something special.

This is why I trust him in this draft.

If we aren't joslin' then we aren't joslin' and that's all good with me.

Eddie would likely have to sack himself... :clap1

EdDie would be one of the main culprits in paying overs to get their man,one of the worst aspects in a high poccession game, players think along with media there better than what they really are, whereby a guy like daniel rioli goes under valued with so much of his game spent on closing space down, such as in the grand final where biclaves had the ball on his own in defence with no tiger player within 50 metres, rioli ran like a bullet, causing a turnover and a tiger shot at goal, almost no other afl player would have done that play, and no stat attached to it that everybody can see and value.

Hope we don’t even look at treloar. We have Jack Ross who deserves a possie before trelol. $900k is obscene money for him. We HAVE Ross and he looks like becoming a very good player and his disposal so far has been impressive. Stick your 900k colonwood we prefer to develop our own players to play our game style.

Treloar had his chance to come to Richmond and he blew it. No second chances.

I am not against taking Treloar if he is cheap enough, but I am not sure on a number of things:

1. Can he fit our culture? Seems to me that we have placed this very high in our assessment of recruits.
2. Are the soft tissue injuries of late a sign of things to come. Those hammys must be a concern
3. How does he affect our list management. It is fine to get the Pies to pay a portion of his salary, but is that proportional as we get deeper into his backloaded contract?
4. How does he fit our gameplan. Whose position does he take.

Of these points, 4 is the one that intrigues me the most. I am not sure we have a player who plays the way he does in our side. He has speed but seems very outside and I can't say I see a lot of defensive aspect to his game. But I can't say I have watched that much of him to be honest.
Agreed.
Without insight to him as a person and his situation, i cant judge if he would fit in and not upset our applecart.
So i,ll happily leave that to the club. If the club says no then its good enough for me.

Its point 4 thats interesting.
I see Treloar as a strong running inside out mid. First hands. So in the Prestia mold.
Adding him to the side would release Cotch for a lighter workload and less contested focus.
Dusty also forward more.
But who goes out of the 22?
Is the squeeze on the hff Rioli and George who do so much defensive running? Hard to see as that would unbalance the side. Ditto for the wingers.
Maybe its Shedda /Cotch who shift to a back flank and we return to a 7 man defense.
Any which way its tough to see who is replaced from the 22

Dodgy hammies, significant contract.

Unlike Lynch, I think Treloar would be the one that upsets the apple cart.

That ridiculous contract would restrict any club list for 5 years

Unlike other years I really don't see any point looking to recruit anyone off an opposition list. We've got kids that are battling each other to break in to the 22, some have had a taste and acquitted themselves nicely and the others are chomping at the bit to get ahead of them.
Keep the powder dry and look at pick swapping should be our aim.

This.

We have about 4-5 players who we would love to put in the team, the premiership team, and we can't fit them in.

I am a firm believer in the youth of our club, and would rather we stick with our own for now anyway.

The Treloar question was one I posed because I'd back the club in if they thought he would benefit us, but I am not sure how he fits into the team. There is no doubt that we could get him if we want him, and get a very good deal on paper.

But for all his ability, I just can't see the role he plays in our side.

I find it odd that he seems hellbent on staying away from his wife/gf and kid. Collingwood spitting him out after two years. Documented anxiety issues.

I don't want to see Collingwood Yarran us. I hope 17 teams keep him where he chose to belong.
She has signed a 1yr deal up there, there is a fair chance i think she is back in Melbourne after next season, hence Treloar does not want to move.

The Pies are spitting him out cos they have f'd the salary cap, and are overpaying him and a few others.

I reckon there will be a taker, but all clubs are feigning no interest to pressure the pies even more, resulting in a later pick being traded, and the pies paying more of his salary for longer.
It will be interesting which club bites first. Dogs, Saints and Bombers the main chances I reckon.

I hope no one wants him.
Karma for both the player and the Pies.
Plus, they probably won't be able to afford to keep DeGoey either.
