Trade talk 2019/20

It feels like the same questions we had about Prestia.

We already have a squad capable of three flags in four years. First, look after that squad, second provide opportunity to those knocking on the door, third keep drafting and developing, fourth trade in a need player (ruck as cover for Soldo). Yes Treloar would be a good addition as would Crouch and Dunkley and Saad etc...... don’t fix what isn’t broken. Another high paid player (even if subsidised) in an area that we have juniors lining up doesn’t make good business sense. Great teams don’t need to add established players like Treloar

I find it odd that he seems hellbent on staying away from his wife/gf and kid. Collingwood spitting him out after two years. Documented anxiety issues.

I don't want to see Collingwood Yarran us. I hope 17 teams keep him where he chose to belong.

Treloar is on 900k a year for the next 5.
No way Collingwood pay 300k a year for him if he leaves so getting him for 600k simply won't happen.

I am not against taking Treloar if he is cheap enough, but I am not sure on a number of things:

1. Can he fit our culture? Seems to me that we have placed this very high in our assessment of recruits.
2. Are the soft tissue injuries of late a sign of things to come. Those hammys must be a concern
3. How does he affect our list management. It is fine to get the Pies to pay a portion of his salary, but is that proportional as we get deeper into his backloaded contract?
4. How does he fit our gameplan. Whose position does he take.

Of these points, 4 is the one that intrigues me the most. I am not sure we have a player who plays the way he does in our side. He has speed but seems very outside and I can't say I see a lot of defensive aspect to his game. But I can't say I have watched that much of him to be honest.

Caro speculated on FC following the 100k fine that our vfl program was under threat

I think the operative word here is "speculated". In other words, made it up. Would be silly of us to stop having a VFL team and I reckon Caro would just have been saying this to make waves.

We get $1.2m for winning the flag that we wouldn't have banked on. You can go over the cap if you pay a tithe that's around double the overspend, e.g. go $100K over the cap, pay $200K to the AFL to distribute to the minnows. We can afford it.

If we could, huge if, I’d pay Treloar 600, Pies pick up the rest for the rest of the contract and they take our second.

Allows Dusty to roam forward more. Get Treloar the flag he never got at Collingwood. Redemption. And salt in the wound for Collingwood.

Rather Bring back Tim Fleming.
*smile* him.

No WAY.
let him go to Footscary or Stkilda.
Where he has no chance of seeing a flag.
Karma is a *smile*

The trade period is a waste of time.
Unless the AFL consider using mediators, this is going to go on for the next 100 years.
Fantansia is worth a pick between 35-45.
Cameron is worth 2 first rounders.
Dunkley 1 pick between 10-20 is enough. 5th best mid at Footscary.
Higgins nth. Pick 40-50
Higgins Rich, pick 20-30
Sad pick between 20-30

Can someone explain to me what happens if no one picks up Treloar ( fingers crossed).
Is Collingwood still allowed to offer contracts to both Milocheck and Defoey??
Because this is the reason for them trying to clear the books.

The dumbest club in the history of the AFL/VFL.
It Back ended contracts to a stage that it can't control.
Recruited a guy that had issues the first time he left the club and they brought him back.
They sign up Elliott for 500k because he got an offer from Brisbane.
They resign Forskin Elliott and Cox, on decent coin... why???
600k for Phillips, shut the joint down...
Stephenson on 500k. Why??

that was my thinking too. All i've seen in the media is that Pies willing to pay some of his contract for year 1. Not all 5 yrs and it gets higher in yr 2 and 3! Unless Treloar also takes a paycut i can't see a trade happening. But he has the upper hand. He can stay, get paid but probably walk into a club that knows he isn't loved. That would be hard.

I would love to know what happens if he does decide to stay. Is degoey gone then? Whats going to give?

Don’t they players get the lion share of those winnings?

The industry seriously over rates Saad. He is barely better than Markov. Pick 8 for Saad is a steal for the bombers.
He is actually a good player but I agree he isn’t that good.
of course if Saad is worth pick 8 then what are Shorty and Bakes worth as they play a similar role?

Can you imagine if he digs in and it results in losing DeGoey. They’ll burn the joint down.

I'd hope we are into him in a huge way, he would be a great addition to our side. Make us very hard to stop next year and the year after and flags are bloody hard to win.

If it meant shaking out Higgins and someone like Caddy it would be a good move for mine.
With 3 under the belt and more within grasp we have a shot at true greatness.
Especially while we have the star power, gamestyle and club culture that will give us a chance each year.
The midfield would lift another level.
Cotch,s career extended.

If possible do it
