Top 10 predicitions?

If that happens, I will spew up. The Pies are on the verge of opening another window.

Agree, that would be a fine haul for a side that finished top 4.

Double Agree. Look how aggresive the Pies have been. Look at how many they turned over.

Look at who we kept. We are passive.

I think that should be seen in the context of our last 3 years, I reckon we've cut as deep as any club going around.

Beautiful work by the Pies. Absolutely got their *smile* together.

They certainly have. Played the free agency/trade period beautifully.

& with Hine & there recruiting team you know they'll make there picks count.

You think? I dunno, they lost Dawes, Wellingham and T.Young and gained C.Young, Russell and Lynch. Not so sure they'll benefit there but their positioning in getting 18/19/20 has worked out well.

Hearing from a decent source that this could resemble the draft order:

1 GWS: Whitfield
2 GWS: Toumpas
3 GWS: Grundy
4 MEL: Wines
5 WBD: O'Rouke
6 WBD: Plowman
7 PTA: Mayes
8 BRI: Stringer
9 RIC: Macrae
10 ESS: Daniher
11 CAR: Jaksch
12 GWS: Clurey
13 GCS: Membrey
14 GWS: Smith
15 NTM: Simpson
16 GEE: Menzel
17 FRE: Shaw
18 COLL: Hrovat
19 COLL: Garlett
(No Adelaide selection)
20 COLL: Vlastuin
21 WBD: Kennedy
22 SYD: Lonergan
23: BRI Colquhoun

From what I hear Menzel should go top 5 personally think we would be stupid to go past him in the scenario above.

Agree,is the most underated junior atm purely because of a knee injury he MAY have in the future!

Im liking 189cm Tim Membrey more and more.

Could easily be a Pavlich/Darling type player.

Is a leader and a captain.

Is a strong overhead mark.

Is a strong pack mark.

Is a proven lead up forward.

Can actually kick straight.

Can kick goals and plenty of them.

Can play a role in the midfield.

Is already a big powerful type.

and lastly he has what Hardwick loves ... plenty of grunt!

do any others around our first pick have these attributes in the same doses?

Decent source or not how could anyone know which players the clubs are likely to pick?

If he was 5cm taller I'd call his name at 9, problem is he's either a flanker or an undersized KP forward. Being a bit of an inbetweener, he'd need to be able to consistently run through the midfield to match the feats of Pavlich and to a lesser extent, Darling. Certainly possible because what he does, he does with a bit of polish, just a question of workrate and whether his output would match the leading mids of the competition. He's probably closer to Crameri than the other two, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, just more an issue of whether he's worth pick 9.

Agree Rosy.....impossible to pick the draft order. It would be mere speculation. Which qualifies just about everyone.

My source is closely involved with recruiters from various clubs, and knows what their preferences are at certain picks. This was essentially the order of the first round at the time that I posted. Who knows, it may change. I see that GWS are warming more to O'Rourke lately, over Grundy.

Sorry wasn't questioning your source Danog. I just don't understand how anyone could know which players other clubs will pick. When they might be after the same player as another club wouldn't they keep their cards hidden?

Not necessarily. I can only see a situation like that arising between picks 12 and 14, or picks 18 to 21 (pre-Melbourne and Adelaide sanctions)

1 Whitfield GWS
2 Toumpas GWS
3 Grundy GWS
4 Wines MELB
5 O'Rourke WB
6 Stringer WB
7 Mayes PTA
8 Plowman BRIS
9 Macrae RICH
10 Daniher ESS

certainly looks to be a solid third tall option. very much of the darling mould.
you can pretty much guarantee whoever gets him will have a good solid fwd who could turn out to be a very valuable player in a few years time.
