Thoroughbred racing

Good choice from Zahra by riding Without a Fight instead of Gold Trip. Yellow and black jockey colours the omen.....
Yep, we really had the quinella, TF. RFC '17 premiership colours on WAF and 2nd horse, Soulcombe, owned by syndicate of Tigers!

Magic Man needs to give himself an uppercut. Got completely outridden by Zahra. Soulcombe had the back of WAF the whole race but when they made their moves he didn’t go with him. Magic Man outsmarted himself. Watch the overhead shot of the complete race if you can find it. Just saw it on Racing.com. Very telling.
Absolutely, Rids, or maybe he deserved one from Big Tom. As if it didn't make it difficult enough with Soulcombe continually missing the starts recently - again today in the Cup cost maybe 3/4 lengths, then Magic Man decides to weave the poor nag all over the place looking for a winning run through the field while Zahra just rode so patiently until picking his run so astutely following another top horse/jockey (forget now which one). Magic Man only had to follow his lead and would have had the perfect path to a great head-to-head finish.
His horse responded magnificently like a V8 Jag, but between the missed start (again - with the trainer deciding not to do anything about Soulcombe's barrier manners too which is looking quite dubious now it's cost them a MC!) and MM's lousy ride, the boys should/could have won a MC.

MM let his big reputation and ego just blind good judgement. Reckon between the start and 'fart in a bottle' ride looking everywhere for a run instead of close to straight in front of him, Soulcombe lost conservatively 5/6 lengths. That' a huge cost. How many chances do you get to win a Cup?

PS - I didn't need to watch the overhead footage on replay either - saw it live and both my wife and I commented on how MM used up Soulcombe. But I won on WAF to cover other losses safely - disappointed in the favorite. Maybe too hot for an Irish star? And stopped backing Soulcombe a few weeks back due to the no-starts from the barrier..

Tiger boys a bit peed off with Soulcombe running 2nd.
I'm not at all surprised, but where did you see that? I only watched the Racing Channel 78 all day. Was hoping to catch sight of the Tiger boys sometime, unless I missed them when popped out for an hour. Hope it wasn't on host broadcaster Ch.10.
Only saw on their News later that Fathead Eddie was compering the coverage!:eek:

Just assumed, but maybe I'm wrong.

Just saw this to corroborate both of us. It hasn't gone unnoticed:

Hopefully back to winnings wats after Sat.

keen without a fight in the cup. has all the right form lines and the best big race jockey. Gets its conditions as well. tick tick tick.

best roughie vow and declare.

best of the day race 2 Sibaaq. very handy weight drop and might just get its own way in front kick and win.

GL!

After Saturdays aberration, normal order has resumed with the Prince back the in the Profits.

Without a Fight braining them in the Cup. Out to $8.50 late in betting. Lovely.

The form around West Wind Blows tieing in Romantic Warrior and Without a Fight continue to produce winners and $$$. It's the hot formline of the spring and made WAF a standout yesterday.

Zahra is a genius. Easily the best big race (and staying) rider in Aus and likely the world. The arrogance/confidence he has is a plus as well.

Need to add a length to his mounts when doing the form for those races.

Not really in to bagging jockeys. but J McDonald has put in some ordinary rides on fancied horses so far over the carnival.

Saturday 8 rides, 6 favorites, a 2nd fav and a 3rd fav - one winner (Derby $2.2)
Tuesday 6 rides, 4 favorites, a 2nd fav and a 4th fav - no winners
Thursday (so far) 3 rides, 1 favorite, 1 2nd fav and a roughie - no winners

Has 3 rides left today, 2 favorites and a 2nd fav ............

Bookies would be pretty happy with him at the moment!

The 3 remaining rides all started favourite (2 were equal favourite) and 1 won (Oaks)

Leaves him with stats for first 3 days of

20 rides - a phenomenal 14 favourites and 2 winners!

Favourites win about 1 in 3 races (33%).

Bookies still pretty happy with him. Punters not so

There's only been three favourites win all week.

Interesting stats for sure. His two winners were near odds on too.

Tis interesting.

J-Mac is a star and will turn it around. One of the best there is.

There is a tax you pay price-wise for his rides though, especially in Sydney.

Worth noting Chris Waller batting at 1 win from 17 runners. Many of the same runners. Chicken or the egg?

Saying that, Atishu was arguably the run of the carnival when second in the Myer Classic Derby day on a leaders track and he got 2nd/3rd in the cup.

Ok, the Saturday Set is in after the Prince got back on track Cup day. And what a day's racing. Now rivals or betters Derby Day.

Flemington:

Race 2: It'sourtime - Lovvvesss the straight and on the backup from Derby Day. Will find this easier when beaten less than a length by Spacewalk who franked the form. Crucially draws wide and Shinn riding a plus. Great bet at $4.20.

Race 3: Miss Aria - Stable loves setting one for this week and that looks the case with her. She has a heap of ability and maps to get on the 3-wide train and go bang at $9.

Race 4: Duke De Sessa - Monster run in a hot Caulfield Cup where he was screaming out for more ground. Trained by the best trainer of stayers in the country. Gets it here and on the up. $4.60 is a bet.

Race 5: Osmose - Talented horse on the up and after this trip. Maps perfectly. Love the Gaibott/TC combo. Gets a lovely little weight pull on his rivals and a ripping price at $7.

Race 6: Imperatriz - A lot of pundits are bringing out reasons she'll get beat. Great horses handle the straight. Dont overthink this. She is the best sprinter in the world and maps perfectly to sit just off Front Page/Asfoora and go BANG. Currently $2 but she'll drift.

Race 8: West Wind Blows - As keep saying the Turnbull/Caulfield Cup form has been a license to print money. That will continue today. Maps to sit behind the leader Zaaki and only an average pace and go BANG. Out to a great price at $3.20. The double with Imperatriz at better than $6 is a cracking bet.

Rosehill:

Speed maps crucial today. Need be on rails and on pace in run.

Race 3: Hellfire - Loves horses that go to a spell in form. Trialled up a treat and maps perfectly to sit behind leader. Gets a lovely claim for a ripper apprentice Jett Stanley. Great chance at $4.20.

Race 6: Roots - Form better than it reads. Unlucky last start in a hot race. Uber talented horse that again maps to sit behind leader and go BANG for Tommy Berry at $3.30.

Race 8: Antino - How unlucky has it been this prep. Arguably should be unbeaten. Maps perfectly on pace rails and screaming out for this trip. Best horse in race by a mile and they giving us $3!!

Race 9: Mars Mission - Reckon we have a false fav here. This horse again maps perfectly and on the up. Tommy Berry also a tick. $4 is a bet.

Race 10: - Gustosisimo - Bet of the day to finish us up. Massive weight swing on the field and is the best horse in the race who will keep going through its grades. Should be odds on and gifting us $2.70. YES!!

GL!!!

Looks like it’ll be a leaders track at Flemington once again today. And also reckon you’ll need to have an outside barrier in straight races.
