I hear ya, JB. Slow tempos make it hard for her to gap them. Happy Clapper may well be our second best miler too, but he faints at 10 furlongs. Humidor would have to be in the discussion for our second best middle distance horse after his dominant win in the Makybe Diva and the procession in the Blamey off a slow tempo a fortnight ago. Although he isn’t as consistent as Happy Clapper. Kementari certainly looks the 3yo most likely to have an impact as a 4yo at this stage.
Humidor’s career best run came in the Cox Plate when his performance was actually rated faster than Winx by Greg Carpenter, due to the 2kg allowance for mates at WFA. Carpenter, rightly IMO, had Winx many, many lengths off her performances in the CP 2015 and 2016.
The media won’t talk about the rising 7yo mare being in decline, but she’ll need to lift it I’m going to keep anchoring her in my annual Cox Plate quaddie routine. ;D
