Thoroughbred racing

Im punting like Einstein. Put the Chop Chop cash on Happy Clapper without Winx @ $5.

Not normally influenced by price, but that was ridiculous.

Perfect result, because Kementari beats Clapper by 3 lengths in The Doncaster, given Winx squashed him at the 400 coupled with handicap conditions giving Special K 4.5 kilos on Clapper.

Kementari's Ryder was extraordinary. Avdulla was nursing him, He only gave Winx a kilo, He got squashed by Winx at the 400m, and he still took half a length off her in the last 100m.

If you have a wife or husband who needs an overseas holiday, or you need a new car, or something,

do yourselves a favour PRE ALt-Unco's, and back the *smile* out of Kementari with everything you've got in The Doncaster.

Well done easy, i was a bit concerned about the barrier, so just watched yesterday. The third place horse D’Argento looks to be a gooden, and will keep him honest when they next meet.

Don't you love it when you back the same horse twice, i was at the pub yesterday having a few beers and a few cash bets on the tote and backed D’Argento.
Then today i logged into my online account to have a bet in the Bunbury Cup to find a few hundred had jumped in, I'd backed D’Argento fixed all in a few weeks ago and forgotten about it

maybe start taking a teaspoon of cod liver oil Tman?

D'argento's win was super impressive. 3 and 6 wide all the way, zig-zagged down the straight, and still brained them.

He'll be very hard to beat in the Derby, which is surely where Waller takes him next.

Although Waller does some very strange things with race placements.

I think Special K is the possibly the best 3yo in the world up to a mile (1kg less and 1.6L behind Winx not even trying?), and I think D'argento would beat him over 2000m.

Shaping up to be an all-time Cox Plate this year I reckon.

Spook's up next for The Unco's. We need a winner.

For those with spare cash, have a couple running this week and this time I will remember to include their names! Queen Leonora goes around at Ballarat tomorrow in the first race. As per usual she has drawn barrier 12 of 13 - not too sure how the track will be but have to expect it to be rain affected and not sure how she goes on it so a little wary. Also she will have to go back from the barrier and Ballarat has at times had a leader bias. Having said that she is fit and ready so worth a dollar each way although the odds may not be too flash.

I'm Buxom returns at Pakenham Thursday night and no idea of field, barrier , state of track etc. etc. at this stage but she goes ok and will be having a crack provided she draws ok and the field is average - which we won't know until tomorrow.

All care, no responsibility!

Go Tigers

Late change of plans - Queen Leonora now to run at Sandown on Wednesday - drew barrier 3 there and will be scratched from Ballarat. Hopefully track ok at Sandown.

An interesting one easy, for stud value winning the Donny is much better than winning the Derby.

I reckon the bookies usually know which way the trainers will go with nominations.

They'de have insiders in every camp, although I think Waller turns the radio up full blast when he's talking to his wife about nominations. The $4 on D'argento in the Derby does suggest thats where he goes, which makes sense to me.

Roll on April 7. I reckon we have 2 winners and an enormous day.

you were right Tman, D'argento to the Doncaster.

Which I dont mind. He's not in the same league as Special K IMHO.

Plus I reckon Furore was easily the 2nd best run in the Rosehill Guineas and he goes very close to winning the Derby.

Leysy, can the old Chop Chop run 2400? Luxury odds in the BMW if he can.

I missed that, has it been confirmed?
I'm pleased though as he'd go very close to winning the Derby and i backed another horse a few weeks ago. He's only got 49 kg's compared to Special K who has 51.5, but i agree with you Kementari is the more brilliant over the 1600 metres. A lot depends on the barrier draw too, D'argento drew the car park the last time they clashed.

By the bookies. Out of Derby market (where he was favourite), 3rd fav $6.5 in the D.

I like it. Will create doubt in punters minds. And doubt = profit.

In the Guineas on Sat, Bowman had to nearly wrench D'argento's teeth out to get him to go straight.

He takes some riding. Whose gonna do that at 49.5? Magic Moriero maybe?

I'd like that too. He'd start favourite.

This might be sacreligious, but isn’t she getting slower, lads? I’m not sure this is the same mare that beat Criterion and Highland Reel a few years back. Sadly, I think the ship to Europe sailed a couple of years ago.

*Highland Reel subsequently flogged Flintshire at his next start, proving the strength of the Winx formline at the time. Highland Reel later ran second in The Arc De Triomphe.

This is probably sacreligious too, but I think they are being a bit *smile* weak with Winx. No sour grapes, Ive only ever profited from her.

without googling, Phar lap humped 63kg for 2 miles?

she hasnt carried over 57 for years

I dunno, I think they are picking their fights carefully and wonder if she does need to beat the worlds best, or lump some lead to be The Best Ever?

On a different note, Leysy can Chop Chop run 2400m?

Of a slow speed Winx ran the quickest last 200, 400 and 800 on Saturday. She is still at her peak. Kemantari and Happy Clapper are close to the second best horses in the country and were flogged.

You’re definitely right about Waller carefully planning soft preparations. If she were an entire she would’ve been off to the Northern Hemisphere in 2016. The dominant performance in the Cox Plate in 2015 suggests she would’ve lapped them but it’s all hypothetical now.

yeah, she would have beaten In her Time in the G1 sprint.

I'd love to see them put her in The Everest.

Did you see Avdulla's comments about K after the George Ryder?

"I rode him nice and comfortable and let him have a dash home"

It was as it appeared, a training gallop.

Not for a moment saying he could beat Winx, but he got pretty close without trying.

Small punting hiccup on the tigers tonight, but

Cummings said.

"We were all really impressed with his effort to finish within two lengths of Winx and we are looking forward to saddling him up in the Doncaster. He is coming along beautifully fifth-up for his grand final on Saturday week."

gotta keep enough distance to see the big picture.
