Thoroughbred racing

Re: Black Caviar wat a champ!!!

Luke nolan pretty hard on himself. Abit like our win over gws, really. Felt the same.

Hopefully he can cheer up for the celebrations.

I blame Moody. He's been saying all week, "we don't need to extend her, we'll save that for Australia". Well, I reckon more Australians were watching her today than any other race and instead of giving us the joy of smashing the Poms on their home turf we're left relieved and a little disappointed.

How's Nolen showing her the whip? She wouldn't know what it was. Hit the damn thing Lukey!

I agree. Needs to smash them next start.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

They can slice it and dice it anyway they want but Nolen nearly blew it. Hope they don't over react and retire the mare.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

BC might be injured, could be retired.

Might have gone early.

No way Frankel's coming for the Cox.

Re: Black Caviar wat a champ!!!

Yeah don't know wat he was thinking easing up before the end. Sort of a shame she didn't show her true couloirs and smash em. But she won. Let frankel come to Aust and win now...

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Retire the lass?

Nuh...looking forward to the Hong Kong Sprint now.

Reckon Frankel would smash BC on the evidence of their last few runs.

Fair call. More like a 1400?

Apparently the incline is steeper than the straight at Sandown. They reckon milers are suited fresh in the Newmarket, and that you need a horse fit enough to run at least a strong 1400...assuming similar applies here.

She'd have been pressed even without Nolen dropping his hands; can only think she'd had enough and he was going easy on her. Moody's played it very cool the whole time over there but it's not surprising if the pressure's got to him and he's made mistakes.

Wash-up might reveal an entirely different explanation, but that was my reading while watching it.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Would have won by a 1/2 length tops if Nolen had ridden her perfectly.

Soul was beaten a length 4th FFS.

Retirement can come fast for mares, once they drop off it can occur quickly.

Hate to say it but Think we might have seen the last of her.

Re: Black Caviar wat a champ!!!

Just had a great day at Ascot. Had a great spot just before the finish line - maybe 15 metres away. Fantastic buzz at the track and wall-to-wall interest in the mighty mare all day. But what was Nolen thinking? I almost brought home a very expensive souvenir from Ladbrokes!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I had a spot near the winning post today and had a good close view of Nolen almost getting it horribly wrong.

The track does indeed have some sharp rises, and it's little wonder our horses do better in the King's Stand than the Jubilee. Atlantic Jewel, Pierro or All Too Hard could be suited over here next year.

Someone who would know told me that Moody and Cecil visited each other's horses this week away from the media glare.

I wouldn't be surprised if Moody pulled the pin suddenly, as he did with Typhoon Tracey.
