Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks Winmad, she certainly tries her heart out all the time. Again, beaten by a couple of horses with better runs on the day. One day she will draw barrier 2,3 or 4, settle closer and hopefully win. She certainly deserves to win one of these city class races. There is another one on Australia Day at Caulfield, I think we need to change something otherwise we will keep getting the same result. Perhaps a claiming apprentice who can get her weight down near the minimum may do the job, having said that Dwayne Dunn rode her perfectly yesterday. Persistence and patience are the keys - just with the Tigers current young crop !

Cheers

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Couldnt fault the ride. Not a fan of using apprentices in the City, may get weight relief, but usually pay for it in inexperience. Hopefully you get a better barrier, makes a big difference. Stick with the big boys, just my silly opinion.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

After much deliberation and I admit heartache I have come to the conclusion I cannot run the PRE Punters Club this year.

My family and I are going to Europe late February and will only fly back into Australia on the morning of 29 March (that evening the Tigers play the Blues in Round 1)

Therefore I will not have enough lead time to spark an interest in the idea and get together the list of punters.

Plus our business has grown so quickly - we now employ 30 staff and I am working 6 days a week just to keep on top of it all. I am also a vice-president of the local Business Council and have two main projects underway there that need constant management. God only knows how I am going to afford the 5 weeks away in Europe - but it is a chance we just cannot give up as we won a trip to Barcelona for the World Mobile Phone Congress - and since we are there we thought we would have a look around Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and the UK. We are meeting up with our 21yo son at Barcelona - he has been backpacking around Europe for the past 20 months and he is going to join us on our tour.

Apologies if you feel I have let PRE down but I just do not have the time nor the exuberance to run it this year.

I have no issues if some other PRE member would like to pick up the baton and run the Punters Club.

Your Sincerely Remote Tiger

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

No worries RT, thanks for your efforts in previous years and enjoy Europe and the catch up with your son.

No luck with the barrier draw again. I'll still squeeze her into the multis though. Good luck.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

This preparation (Fabulist) has drawn barrier 11 in a field of 12, 5 in 9, 10 in 10, 5 in 10, 11 in 11 and now 10 in 10 tomorrow. Not surprisingly the only times she drew a decent barrier (5 in a field of 9) she won and (5 in a field of 10) she ran second.

Regardless, she will be trying very hard again, J Winks (4 rides for 3 wins and a third) goes back aboard and she meets the same suspects she has been racing against again. I think the main danger is the topweight, Biancon Rose, goes very well first up, has a 3kg claim so is very close to us inthe weights and is well drawn. Will probably load up the place and a little the win just in case she gets the lucky break she deserves.

Fingers crossed

Fabulist got quite a bit of twitter sympathy (and love) yesterday from racing journos T44. Don't know if you follow twitter but I was thinking of you when reading it.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hello jb

There are a few racing journalists in her so probably a bit of self pity at her inability to draw anywhere near the inside fence! Not up to speed with things like Twitter I'm afraid, have enough trouble turning my computer on.

$6 currently fixed odds, $2.20 th eplace is very tempting.

Cheers

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Think Shane Anderson from Radio Sport National must be a fellow owner 44.

Is always tweeting about her.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hello Tannerz, she has been up for a while (since October) so she is having a very short break - about two weeks in the paddock and then back into work. Will hopefully be back at the track in about six to eight weeks. Forget her last run, didn't have a hope with the way the track raced - you had to be on pace and near the fence, neither of which she was ever going to be after drawing in the car park (again).

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Really like Bombalatomba - having a go this weekend R3 at Caulfield. Strong fella and he can go quick. Powered up the hill at Sandown 2 weeks ago in the quickest 1400 of the day by a long way. If he takes your fancy get on fixed early in the day - he came in from $10 to $5.40 very late - my $20 e/w didn't reel him in this far so someone with money likes him a lot too.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hot Spin in race 7 is another I'll have a crack at this Sat.

I'm not on this however felt the need to share - only just received text

Bloke I know is a mate of the owner of a horse running at Werribee. They are very keen - R6 #1 Speeler.

First-up. Suspect it surprised connections when running 3rd at its first run for Leon Corstens last time in. Currently paying in excess of $15...you'll have earned a few credits if it gets up!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I seem to know a lot of people who own horses and rarely do I take their advice. Invariably they have the rose coloured glasses on because they have believed the trainer talking it up. Will happily share their "inside word" but it will always be a case of "Caveat Lector".

From the owners of Marden - Rosehill R10 #13 - tomorrow.

"finished 2nd first up last time over the same distance. Worth each way."
