Don't know how long you've been following this thread Bob but Leysy regularly blows his trumpet and advises us if we follow his tips he'll lead us to the promi$ed land (or words to that effect). Haven't seen too much evidence to support that on this forum. If you put yourself on a pedestal someone will always remind you when you fall. I'm sure it's all in good fun from both sides though. I certainly hope so.

Confuscious says we could all be millionaires if we could read Sunday's paper before putting our bets Saturday's races.

Yeah he has a bit of fun and puts his bets out there for all to see. I think everyone in this game understands you won't win it all. Leysey ain't no mug punter, he actually has a some clue. It's all good fun, Leysey doesn't live any other way. :hihi

It's all a bit of fun ain't it? When it stops being fun, give up the gambling.

How else can he afford buying 4 beers at a time at the footy, 5 times a quarter? ;D ;)

leysy buys beers? I am still waiting for the half a dozen I won off him years ago for one of his hack horses never winning a group 1.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Tough day yesterday, way up early but all done hill after the Big Cat. Got a little back when the chariot racing started and the hounds were released but still done on the day. And if there is a better punting pub in Melbourne then the Harp in Kew, I'll go he.

PRE Punters Club

Lucky Thunder was there at the turn into the short Moonee Valley straight but just did not run on - Hissing Sid was way back in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup and stormed home but the winner had bolted at the turn.

We need a new champion and a new challenger

Champion in the red corner - Scottyturnerscurse
Challenger in the blue corner - Hartbalm

This is it guys only 3 Saturdays to go - time to make your challenge to Blood_17....................

PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR 2009

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

The order of betting for 2009 is -

1. Blood17 - return $101.30 - Club House Leader
2. mk33 - return 0
3. Red Sea Tiger - return $65.30
4. jb03 - return $71.70
5. Tiger44 - Return $47.90
6. Scottyturnerscurse - return 0 - Champion
7. the claw - return 0
8. Hartbalm - return 0 - Challenger
9. Leysy Days - return $19.50
10. jimbler - return 0
11. Rosy - return $49.57
12. Dyer'ere - $10.70
13. Remote Tiger - return $52.40

Due to two tipsters betting each weekend (Champion and Challenger) we all should get more than two turns at tipping during the winter footy season and spring racing carnival.

IASbet.com provides for - a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three or a fixed price or in some races Top Fluctuations. When you put your tips on PRE please advise which of the 3 betting types above you want (Superprice or Fixed Price or Top Fluctuation) Please note if betting for a place Superprice is the only option available. IT MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOU BECOMING NEXT WEEKS CHAMPION.

Geez you are generous to Hissing Sid RT. It was absolutely disgraceful.

I've been on Hissing Sid all along. Had some misguided idea some time ago that it could win the Cup.

Camel

OK RT, I'll go early.

Race 5 # 2 Racing to Win
Race 6 # 5 Extra Zero

Both $5 win. If a scratching, $5 place on the other one.

Damn you, Hartbalme. I wanted Extra Zero. My folly for not going early.

I will therefore take Paprika to win for $5 and Stickpin in the last to place for $5.

Many thanks and happy punting all.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Its Christmas day for adults tomorrow and there is some great races tomorrow, especially the Coolmore and Myer Classic. Looking forward to Myer Classic as my two fav horses Hot Danish and Typhoon Tracey are running. Box them in exacta (paid $6.90 Caulfield Cup day) or trifecta the field for 3rd. Glowlamp ran 3rd last time and is $51 this week quoted.
Also there is going to be some value that gets up somewhere or place so there is some fun to have. You are doing well if you get a quaddie or trifecta tomorrow. Good luck punters. My tips for what they are worth (not much have had 3 ordinary weeks on the punt). Will have dips at trifecta to find that elusive big one but be hard work.

Race 1
1 Kidnapped
5 The Comedian
2 Bawarrdi

Race 2
4 Shocking
7 Dandaad
9 Irazu

Race 3
3 Run For Naaria
7 Mount Fleiri
6 Faint Perfume

Race 4
7 Demerit
5 Wanted
14 Irish Knights

Race 5
4 Zipping
8 Cima De Triomphe
3 Master O'reilly

Race 6
3 Shamoline Warrior
1 Onemorenomore
2 Viking Legend

Race 7
11 Typhoon Tracey
3 Hot Danish
4 Neroli
could be some good value for place, Glowlamp was 3rd last start to these two and is at $51

Race 8
2 First Command
1 Turffontein
6 Eagle Falls

Race 9
3 Chasm
5 McClintock
14 Kiloton

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Sorry, RT. Not even close.

Daffodil, Alcopop and the Cummings top two in a box tri on Saturday.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Just did the weights & measures for the Cup

1. Mourilyan 68 - Good win in the March Stakes and close 2nd in the Goodwood Cup 3200m
2. Viewed 67.4 - Top runs in both the Caulfield Cup and LKS McKinnon
3. Leica Ding 67 - Good win in the Geelong Cup
4. Roman Emporer 66.7 - great 2nd in the Caulfield Cup
5. Newport 66.6 - drops a massive 7kgs on his very strong finishing run in the LKS MacKinnon - only problem is he has had 3 goes at 3200m and never placed
6 Alcopop 66 - Up and comer who has not taken a usual path to the cup - last run was 24 days ago in the Herbert Power

The above were completed for a Dead Track

I personally like Daffodil but she only rated a 64.9

Bart Cummings could quinella the cup again.

Think I will throw the above into exotics and have a relaxing day with my staff watching the big one........Good punting........RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Time again for the annual Sir Tristram/Zabeel Handicap, aka Melbourne Cup. Have plumped for Roman Emperor which has a dash of Sir Tristram on his dam's side, through Grosvenor. Has come through the right races and is still improving; hopefully the handicapper hasn't caught him yet with 54kg. Willing to let the favourites run against me at the odds - Viewed attempting to become the first clear topweight to win since Rising Fast, and Alcopop with his unfashionable connections and still to be tested at the top level. Happy punting everyone.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Like Mourilyan.

Cant believe the handicapper gave a 2.5 winner of the Caulfield Cup only a 1.0 kg penalty. Viewed seems well weighted for a top weight.

Hope you had him each way, nice odds.

Really doubted the winner would get the trip; he had nearly the highest dosage (ratio of breeding speed:stamina) in the race, and the highest of any winner except Beldale Ball in the last 50 years. Can't take anything away from Shocking though, he was simply the best horse on the day.

Yeah each way. Never going to win but a really nice run. Got some dollars. Looking for 4k perhaps?

Agree too, great effort by Shocking. Perhaps Alcopop needed a better trainer/team as it had Shocking's measure earlier in the Spring.

PRE Punters Club

All 4 bets ran good races on Derby Day but just not enough to collect.

As this years punters clubs winds down to the end of its season it is looking more and more like Blood_17 will be crowned PRE Punter Of The Year. There are 2 Saturdays left and someone will have to pull off a drastic move to upset our frontrunner. Will it be this weeks champion or challenger or both?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A little tip for you guys.

A mate owns O'Reilly's Clock in Race 2.

Give it some serious consideration. Loves to be on the outside and settled, having barrier 10 has made the owners very happy.

Happy Punting. :)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]
