Thomson Dow

We are in rebuild mode, so unfortunately players like Dow need to be fed a diet of games.

Agree we need to make changes, but our squad was not young, with only Gibcus, Dow, MJ, Seth and Banks the only players aged under 22. So the churn of players has to come from our older players first otherwise the cliff will keep getting bigger.

Can‘t blame a 67 point deficit on the kids.

I reckon it was too bad to be true.

I reckon he musta been coming down with the covid or something.
I hope you're right and there's "something" up. Just completely off the pace this we week.

Was he "over aroused" given it was Dimma and he wanted to prove a point and got paralysed by his own expectations? 5th year, time running out. Has demonstrated better before. He can't afford to be thought of as one of those guys who only gets desperate when he's about to get delisted.

He was just out and out bullied by Rowell. It was like a prep kid trying to take on the school bully. I just felt sorry for him at some stages of the first half.

Needs to do much better as the Blues Midfield aint tiny.

I am just imagining him trying to hang off Cripps in the centre bounce. Frightening

Hes actually a good match up for that cat carlton got from freo.

And i dont mean that to be mean
he can follow him around and learn how to play.
Its not a bad idea if he can tackle and negate. which he didnt do against Gold Coast.

The easiest and most uncomplicated quality a player can bring to every game they play is “EFFORT” and when there is a lack of effort everything else becomes a moot point really.

No side can or should be expected to carry any player who does not put in 100% effort. Straight back in the seconds for this guy and if he continues to watch the game while playing the game then I would like him and any other player who doesn’t give their all, to be shown the door at the end of the season. Whether as part of a trade or simply having their contracts terminated.

Cannot agree with this. Dow has been around long enough to know it is about arse up head down when playing seniors.Took it too easy in this game.Ryan the same.Jnr Rioli the same. This talk about playing the kids is fine but seriously can some of these kids actually play?Said it before at least Cumbo has a go and tries to be creative but this kid is being overlooked for what seems to be trivial off the field antics. This is one kid we should play IMO.And Bauer as well, but he can pack mark, not required at Tigerland.........

Dow was very good through the pre-season and practise matches.

What went wrong?

Practise matches are far less pressure cookers. He needs to put on his big boy pants in the seniors otherwise he will go by the wayside.

Dow and Ryan, I agree with, but I thought Maurice was one of the better players of those under the pump. He gave it everything.

Agreed. One non negotiable is effort.

Well, Cumbo has a go when he feels like it. He is a lot more creative but the whole point of him being out of the team is that he’s selective about when to try. He’s being overlooked for not playing arse up head down as he has acknowledged.
Would love to see Bauer back but he has been injured and didn’t play VFL.
