The "Richmond Specialists" - present and past

Sooky Will Minson has made a bolt as a Richmond Specialist lately. An absolute dud who somehow looks 1st class against us. I actually thought he was half decent until I watched a couple of bulldogs games against other teams and i was flabbergasted at how bad he was.
Richmond Specialists suffer from yellow sash fever. A condition which makes ordinary players perform like seasoned guns when lining up against the tiges.

Using Dream Team scores as a rough and ready measure, the ten current players with the greatest difference between career average and average v Richmond are (min. 5 games v Richmond):

Diff  Player           CMa  CAvg RM   RAvg
------------------------------------------
23.14 Boak, Travis      88 82.35  6 105.50
18.73 Bate, Matthew     89 71.27  5  90.00
17.46 Robinson, Mitch   46 75.74  5  93.20
16.08 McIntosh, Hamish  99 73.72  5  89.80
15.77 O'Keefe, Ryan    229 73.10 16  88.88

13.94 Walker, Andrew   124 65.06  7  79.00

Good players who probably circle Richmond games on their calendars include Thomas, Didak, Franklin, Milne, Steve Johnson & Judd. Mediocre types include Petterd, Seaby, Staker, Hahn, Raph & Xavier Clarke.

Top ten underperformers:

Other good players returning "unders" against us are Swan, Pavlich, Fisher, Boyd, Black, Chapman, Fletcher, Heath Shaw, Hodge & Ottens.

Both been nominated several times but +1 for Ben Graham (past) and Eddie Betts (present). Nathan Thompson...I reckon about 5 of his best 10 career games would've been against Richmond. Kicked 5 against us twice when he was washed up and playing for North!

Good call on Nathan Thompson.

Sav Rocca had some good games against us too...kicked 10 when playing for Collingwood and 8 when playing for North IIRC.

On top of Minson this year (4Goals) what about Lindsay Gilbee.
All year he's kicked 10 goals.

6 of those were in Rd8.
Yep, 6.

Who did they play in Rd8?

3 weeks later he got dropped.

Nuff said.

Just shocking how we let these things happen.

Fraser Brown kicked a few bags v us, Robert Scott seemed to lift,

the obvious G Ablett Snr 13 goals from a wing at the G including a few left foot torps on the run.... Tiger fans were in awe.

Anyone with Houlihan as a surname
Cameron Wood
Cameron Thurley
Will Minson
David Calthorpe
Adrian Whitehead

Will Minson looks like a 12 year old kid playing under 10s when he runs out against us.

Good pick on Houlihan, we have made Ryan look like a superstar many times. Not sure about Wood but most ruckmen seem to have a day out against us.

Good memory!

Magnificent work LTRTR, thanks for that.

Yes, Mitch Robinson is growing into an accomplished Richmond Specialist. Forgot about Ebert - he did well against us for a few years there.

How about these ones?

Leigh Harding (North) - in and out of the side his whole career, remember him carving us up.
Brad Miller (Melb) - yes our Brad played some blinders against us.

You can now add (Norman) Gunston from Adelaide to the list. At least this time it did not cost us the match. His opponent was.....................?

Looked like Post for much of it. Nine marks, none contested...

This could end up a 100 page thread. What a strange and horrible phenomenon this is. We usually recruit these guys because we believe that they play as well every other week as they did when they played us.

Kent Kingsley
Jon Rombotis
Jamie Elliot
Mark Neeld
Andrew Tarpey
Ben Marsh
Mark Trewalla
Clay Sampson
Ashley Blurton
Andrew Tarpey? Didn't we draft him from the vfl mid season when jeans was coach?

richo slotted 9 on him at the G when playin for the bummers so is hardly an RFC specialist.

my pick for dud who racks it up against us and only us = peter somerville, bloke used to always spark up against us and smash us in the middle

Brent Harvey and Drew Petrie, take a bow...

Richmond Specialists par excellence. ;D
