The PRE 2011 Phantom draft

If you yourself are picking fev before stk then this is as obvious conflict of interest as it was when eddie mcguire was commentating pies games on 9... realistically no ones going near fev, especially brand new teams - lets try to keep this as realistic as possible

as far as i can see if i didnt pick anyone the suns pick wouldnt have happened at all, so i cant see the harm.
if you would prefer you can change the suns pick to a pass. or :

should someone take the Suns pick? anyone?

Ok I will assume its my pick.

Pick 26 - Richmond

Nick Haynes (VIC - midfield/forward)

Height: 191cm, Weight: 70kg, DOB: 18/05/1992

Recruited from: Dandenong Stingrays

Nick can play on the wing or a hit up half forward. He is a late bloomer being already 19 years old but there is plenty of room left for improvment. Is thinly built but once he fills out will be a hard match up to play on. He is a one touch player who is also fairly quick and agile. Has the willingness to run hard and create options but also doesnt mind putting pressure on the opposition. He stands at 191cm and has the knack of marking the ball at its highest point.
He came 5th overall in the 3km time trial. Could be Andrew Embley MK2.

What just happened?

I am going to assume Grigg has been taken by someone and Fev by someone else and now it is my turn.

Pick 27 Adelaide. This would have been an easy choice if Neil Craig was still their coach, just go for the athlete around 190 cm, give or take 3. SInce he has gone, I'll assume Sanderson has asked for a bit of structure.

Pick 27: Adelaide. Michael Talia

Height - 191cm
Weight - 86kg
DOB - 02/11/1993
Position - Key Defender
Club - Calder Cannons (Vic)

May as well start with a full back. Craig would probably approve anyway.

He would need to pack on 20kg, big gamble IMO.

Pick 28 - West Coast - Sam Frost

West Coast get their long term replacement for Darren Glass via a super athletic key position defender. A strong mark with great closing speed, he is one that could well go higher with GWS looking to balance their intake.

Big gamble? Could be. But with Taylor gone he fills a need as they lead up half forward who can also push onto a wing.

Top 15 pick according to Emma Quayle so the kid does have talent. If he can put on the required weight he could be a very useful player.

78kg versus 70kg is a big difference, certainly doesn't present the same sorts of challenges in getting him to peak physical condition.
