The PRE 2011 Phantom draft

Pick 34 - Geelong

Tom Sheridan - Utility
185cm, 76kg
Calder Cannons

Can play any non-KP position on the ground pretty well, and while he isn't overly quick he is more a footballer's footballer with his neat skills and ability to run all day. Have seen some things posted elsewhere mentioning he is a bit of a wild child off the field but you'd think a professional outfit like Geelong would be able to take that out of him.

I know how you feel, doggie.

I've been ticking off my next pick since about pick 30. Barnzy is bound to nick one more from me.

Ugh, wanted Kersten or Dobosz.

at pick 40 North select:

Jordan Lockyer (West Pert, WA)
DOB: 15/06/93
Height: 191cm
Weight: 85Kg

Best available here we think. Perhaps would like an extra inch on him but Jordan can read the play well and is an aggressive defender. He attacks the contest, can take a strong grab and shut down his opponent but also on the rebound is a quality kick (Averaged 75% effectiveness at U18 champs). Shown the ability to also push forward in a game or 2 so could offer something in a variety of roles. Lead WA's backline and while he may start off his career as the 3rd tall in the back half playing on talls and smalls (which he can do) we see him in time developing into a very good, strong FB in the Scarlett/Frawley mold.

Pick 41: Adelaide chooses Josh Waldhuter

From: (Central Districts, SA)
Date of birth: 15/03/93
Height: 183cm
Weight: 83Kg

Good size, aggressive, good kick. A salt-of-the-earth type that all good footy clubs need.

Start him off on a half-back flank and let him terrorise the Eddie Betts of this world for a couple of years, before upgrading him to run-with roles through the midfield.

Also a local boy, which can't hurt and he comes out of the successful Central Districts program. If nothing else, he will be used to playing in winning teams.

Nice pick Tot.

He was in my thinking for pick 40 and I was gonna snag him but North have more than enough inside mids who are see ball get ball types. Greenwood has the tagging covered as well.
