The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

There's a rumour floating around on email, which makes it doubly unreliable, that Hinkley will be offered the coaching role and Richardson as assistant. The theory goes that there's no way Richardson will get the chief gig at the Pies anytime soon and so might be tempted to jump ship.

Why do i never get these infamous emails ??

I think its now come down to Hinkley.

I was favouring Hardwick but if what we believe has happened at North and with his meeting at Port , well i am not sure he is the man for us. I dont think he is that interested. As i wrote yesterday in another thread i think he has gone through the motions with us, we have been keen on him but i think he has his eye on a succession plan once Williams finishes.

So be it.

Hinkley is deserving of the position. With Garry again away at such a critical stage i doubt an announcement will be made now till after the last round is complete. Unless Garry gives his recommendation to the Board and to the Committee to go ahead with the announcement, which i doubt as this is unprofessional of a football club.

So it is another week before we will know ....

were did u find out marchy was away
And if he is well that means that the interviews are over becuse he is on the second round panel

Yep they do not go that short unless it is a certainty.

Or are they going on today's media love in with two articles about Hinkley and of course the famous 3/4 time speech?

The beauty is no one knows. You would think if the bookies got wind of this, then surely the media would be all over it.

Got an email just then saying it is done and will be announced as early as Monday. Sounds like crap.
Yep it is crap TB. March will be o/s early next week so the announcement wont be made until Thursday next week at the earliest.

What staggers me is that everyone is saying Hinkley has the job yet 2 things have yet to happen in the process;

1) According to most reports except Caro, Hinkley is having his 2nd interview tonight.
2) The final 2 candidates have to present to the Board again before a decision is made.

I think we might see another twist in all of this before an annoucement is made.

Greg Denham update on SEN this morning:

Hardwick was offered a position at Port yesterday, Denham states they will want an answer before Richmond's process is finished.

Hinkley's second interview is tonight so looks like Caro is wrong, I hope someone takes her to task on this.

March is going away at a very poor time, we really now need to tie this up.

Is Gary away? I thought he'd be here Saturday night for the Presidents Dinner? The Col Austin Cup!

if hes gone away now thats bad becuse he is suppored to be on the panel for round two so hinkley dosnt get the ful panel
Makes u wonder if there staling to give jade time to win a couple told ya march wants jade

March will be away next week, delaying the Board meeting when they will make the decision. He'll be there tonight for Hinkley's presentation.

thats ok then i still feel uneasy bout this why didnt they do both jade and ken last week and then made a decsion at tuesdays board meeting

For the first time I am starting to miss Wallace being a part of the RFC. How the hell can the average punter find out what's happening behind closed doors at RFC if there are no leaks directly to the media ?!?!?!

Gotta say I'm warming to Hinkley. I think there's alot going for someone who's been an assistant coach at a very successful club for 6 years. A club that has only had a handful of losses for much of that time. You can do alot worse than use the Geelong model as a template for future success.

On the flip side, would he know what to do with players that are below average? Would he know how to rebuild a club and develop players?

TBH, I think we need a news story to let us know exactly what's happening behind the scenes at these coach interviews.
