Thompson said last night that geelong would not stand in the way for Hinkley to coach, based on that i'd expect Hinkley's 1st day would be 'mad monday'. there is no way he'd be at Geelong for the finals campain if he is appointed RFC coach.

on a personal note, when Wallace left my 2 choices for coach were Matthews (exp. coach) or Hinkley (rookie coach).

Would imagine he would continue if they make it deep into the finals? More finals/premiership experience the better.

Of course he can be announced as coach if we want to regardless of finals or not. He'd just have to pull the pin at Geelong and get cracking at RFC straight away. Clarkson did this exact same thing with Port when he took the Hawthorn job. We need the coach in place by the start of September, not the end. There is way too much work to be done to leave it until after finals. If he wants to be a senior coach that's the way it is.

on the other side of the coin... i'm pretty sure laidley finished the season off at collingwood before joining the roos

Yeah heard that and thought maybe that why we are not too fussed about all the hoo hah in the Media about North trumping us with Hardwick.

Or as some have suggested Hinkley or Richardson are our preferred candidates anyway.

Its all speculation at this stage.

Would be peeved though if Scott turned out to be a cracker for North and we cut him, but kept Jade in the running

That would be great news if the Roos announce Scott as their coach. Would allow us to properly analyse the final 4 candidates without any media scum breathing down our necks.
