The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

It was in reference to Jordan playing Rosy.

You sure have a bee in your bonnet regarding that. ::)

Who has a bee in their bonnet? You agreed with a post that said McMahon plays because Jade wants him to and I found that interesting given past comments about Jade having no say in selection.

my reponse was in regards to Jordan playing full stop. Irrelevant of who selected him.

I've got a bad feeling the Giesch effect is in full effect.

I don't think Rawlings will be a bad coach but he'll be a middle of the road one.

If TPTB don't take todays performance into account in evaluating Rawlings then they're derelict in their duty to the club. Todays game solidified for me that Rawlings can't be made coach.

Do you think Jade does take part in team selection now?

You have emailed Gary March and you have started a thread on it. You got your answer. How many times do you need to ask the question.

Given a tanking West Coast beat Essendon today, it kinda takes some of the gloss off our win last week, we didn't beat much
I certainly hope wins against these crap sides won't be the reason they give him the job

Much as I like some of the things he's done I reckon he's too inexperienced.

Zero, when you have Craig Cameron sitting next to The Blade you would think he would be performing some kind of 'informal' assessment. I know today's win looked scrapy and we only beat a Melbourne without a Sylia, Morton & Jurrah, and full injured bench late in the game but the team todat will take away something special.

The belief of winning and the a spirit of a never give up attitude is slowly but evidently showing in our playing group. These constituents are only acquired by working hard. Whether it's being attributed by the coach or not we'll know in the wash up.

Exactly.

Thats my concern Disco.I think we also need to look at our results closer. We struggled to beat an undermanned Melbourne,we couldn't put away or beat North who have hardly won a game all year & last week's win against the Bombers who appear to be running out of gas (Getting beaten by the Eagles) is not as impressive as we thought. In time I think Rawlings will be a good coach but not sure if he's ready for a senior gig yet.

Would be even better if the committee don't take the results into account at all.

That's why he'd be better as assistant coach......if a new coach allows that.

Agree.

Another thing, reading newspaper articles about how our players 'endorse' Jade and how they respect him and how they they think he is a good communicater and takes them aside individually makes me *smiling* sick in the guts.

have you ever heard players come out openly and make negative comments towards their current coach?

tend to agree. todays game should have a big black mark against JR's name

good point. west coast winning today takes more gloss off JR's results.

Today's performance (regardless of the result) was woeful. It was the worst winning game I can remember seeing a Richmond side play over the 29 years I've been going. Shambolic - lack of intensity, skills, option choice, positioning of players (why Post was taken out of the forward line in the 2nd half is beyond me) - just everything.

Surely a senior coach could have presented a more intense, committed team than the one we saw today. Really have to question whether Rawlings is the best bet as coach on the back of what I saw today and what happened against Nth Melb a few weeks ago. Roll on the process!

As I suggested earlier I think A Richardson deserves to be favourite for the job.

No changes on that after todays game. However one thing that was obvious before and is increasingly obvious after today is that Ben Cousins should be included on the list as a playing assistant next season.

He was out there today telling and showing them what to do. Our younger players are benefiting more from a fellow players input than at any time I can recall and imo he should have that leadership authority recognized next year.

Maybe A Richardson senior coach, Rawlings senior assistant and defence coach, Cousins captain and stoppages coach and ?? as forward line coach with Campbell, Johnson and Mcrae at Coburg.

In a worst case with M Richardson's injured hammy, could he fill the ??

Agreed. Michael Voss should be sacked also, Brisbane's second half showed a lack of passion.

Actually it showed how good Collingwood are at shutting teams down.

I tend to agree with Westy. Happy to se process adhered to and minimal notice should be taken on Jade's win/loss ratio but more his match day coaching but more importantly his vision for the next 2-4 years.

Rawlings may want the job - but he is IMO a couple of years off before he will be ready to take on a senior coaching role.

The Tigers need more than just a senior coach too. The whole football department needs a good shake up.

Most of all we need an experienced mid-field coach - for that is where the game is won and lost in modern football - in the "engine room". Campbell has not yet got what is needed for a mid-field coaching role as our mid-field is constantly being beaten when the game is in the balance.

Lastly - is it just me or are you too getting tired of the media hype over the RFC senior coaching position - over Rawlings been pushed by TV commentators. I have the luck to see most AFL games on Foxtel every weekend and I don't hear them saying the same things about North Melbourne or Crocker. Sensationalism of the RFC must help TV ratings, must sell newspapers. Would much prefer they keep their opinions to themselves because all it does is add fuel to the fire of the heartburn of Tiger Supporters. And in truth it is only an outsiders opinion - and we all know opinions are like rectums - everybody's got one!

But then again if they are talking about us they are leaving the other clubs alone. And we are broad shouldered we can take it - afterall we have been for decades now.............
