The least tactical sub in history

If Biggie is back I’d partner him with Samson. He has been our number 1 ruck in the VFL all season until his hurt his ankle a couple of weeks ago. Miller is trying hard and I don’t think he was as bad as some on here think he was, but god help him against Witts next week

I would have subbed Mansell. You know Cotch will give his all and at least can contribute some pressure.

But the way it imbalanced the side and messed up the defence was terrible.

Clearly a bad decision. I figure they were looking for more run to try and win the game, but we are missing tall players and as the old saying goes, they don't get any shorter as the game goes on.

Good call, if Biggie is fit, he might get given a game or 2 until Nank / Soldo are fit.

Lets face it the sub could reasonably have been any one of about 6 players. The travesty is that our sub was worse than all of those options.

Dimma makes too many basic selection mistakes for a senior coach.
Spot on. It wasn't as we were bringing on Stuart Maxfield or Matthew Rogers.
We brought on a bloke in my eyes is worse then Bulter Castagna and Higgins.
He is still at Punt Rd while the rest are gone.
Playing Mansell and Ralphsmith is a declaration your a bottom 4 side.

Hugo shouldn't even have been playing ahead of Sonsie. That's the biggest head scratcher.
Sonie dosent get 25 possessions in the 2s.
Why is Sonie a head scratcher.
Our recruiting team has bent is over. We have good family kids with good HSC scores that can't get near a Sherrin.
Miller that's a disappointment. Big tall strong But can't mark and can't kick straight. Fken hopeless

it was a good sub to make for the Dees.
Gave Van Rooyen a chance to get into the game and win the game for them. Genius.

But really, Dimma win be loathing into his dope cookie.

He had 37 in his last vfl game.

No football at all for Tyler this week though.

I wonder if he needed a rest. Has an injury interrupted pre season and has played 4 games in a row (2 VFL and 1 AFL) and maybe this was the chance but they haven't communicated that to us.

Calls for Balta to be moved into the ruck are just ridiculous. Dare i say it Balta was Rance like last night. He literally held that backline together and we want to move him into the ruck and destroy the kids confidence again! You guys must be smoking the same hooch Dimma is. Balta stays back. We need to find a different avenue in the ruck until the others return. Its like continually playing Mansell and Flapsmith. We never seem to learn from history.

If a young player in his 2nd season needs a rest after playing 4 games in a row then we need to sack the entire fitness and coaching panel. That would be a complete and utter joke. If he felt something and was given a week off as a precaution fair enough. If not then they have the lost the plot at Tigerland.

You realise he had a hip issue during pre-season right? They may just be managing him back into it. His TOG % dropped right away last week, 81% down to 68% so its certainly feasible that he needs a bit of a recharge ready for the bank of 6 day breaks that we have ahead of us.

Interesting take by some.
but to call Cheech a bad match day coach is just absurd.
each to their own.
I think x 3 flags he deserves some respect or at least a free ounce of this

He certainly does. You don't become a 3 time premiership coach by being a poor matchday coach.

He made a massive error in judgement last night though.

Miller was shiit.
Back or forward he was hopless.
He couldn't even give a 20yr old a chop out in the ruck.
I wouldve delisted him not subbed him

I’m sure it is was an error of a collective judgement but ultimately his decision.

Least tactical in history is a pretty big call. Miller was poor I know that much. Dimma's explanation rang true to me.

Goodwin said he was just about to sub Van the Man just prior to his 3 goal burst. THAT might have been the least tactical sub in history - bit nobody would ever have known. Just because an idea doesn't work doesn't mean its a bad idea. To again quote David St Hubbins, there's a fine line between genius and stupidity.

This decision is up there with Cotch deciding to kick against the wind in the 2014 EF. Hope Hardwick is asked some serious questions about it.

The decision to sub Miller wasn't a bad call. The decision to sub anyone for Ralphsmith was a woeful decision. If we have Sonsie or Dow as sub we very likely win that game.
