'The Hafey years' book by Elliot Cartledge [Merged]

Re: New Book about Tommy Hafey

Kevin Sheedy - Classic Richmond. Point blank blue collar worker on...and off the field.

Re: New Book about Tommy Hafey

Has to be KB, looked like a drowned rat but played like an abosolute champ, was hated by opposition fans and loved the club.

Re: New Book about Tommy Hafey

Francis Bourke - From Wing to Full Back, regardless of his position, always gave his heart to the club and would even bleed if required.

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

Robbie McGhie:
The lean, mean, tattooed skinhead devoured the opposition, bones and all. The junkyard Dog that transformed into a ferocious Tiger. Robbie did "Eat'em alive".

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

Roger Dean. Born, lived and played in 'Tigerland'. From being belted on Punt Rd , to the clean sweep of '73. Truly one of 'Tommys Tigers'.

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

KB, from Lennox Street to Under17's at Punt Road, To a Tommy's Tiger, Our Coach, An AFL legend they didnt come more Tigerish than KB!

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

He was small
He was lean
He was tough
He was mean
The one I loved was Roger Dean.

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

There once was a fella named Clay
And boy o boy could he play
When he was on song
And kicking them long
It made Tommy Hafey's day

Note, not an official entry, too many words. Just had to try and top Rosy pumping Roger Dean instead of my man Clay.

Mine isn't either...but I reckon you should do a couple more with less words Streaker. It's a great prize to win.

Hey, just a thought EJC. Maybe we could get Tom to judge the competition!

I reckon Tommy would be honoured to do that for us. :D

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

Bourke, Barrot, Clay
"The Centreline" of it's day
Wingers 6 feet tall
boy, could they kick a ball
and Barrot's drop kicks made my day

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

"Fowler's solution", goes the legend
Brough about Phar Lap's demise
And forty years later
It cut Big Nick down to size

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

Stewart was his name
Left foot centreman was his game.
2 Brownlows at the Saints to his name
Won 1 with us just the same.

Re: 'Your chance to win 'The Hafey Years' book (P3)

These are fantastic - well done everyone.

Keep them coming in and we'll have a winner on our hands.

The club took delivery of the book yesterday; it has come up a treat.

Just read an article on the journo's board.

I can't wait for this to come out.

I hope the club is going to release a run of books signed by Tommy. I'd pay a fair premium for one as a donation to the club on his behalf.

Yes that's right. I understand there is further communication coming out from the club this week about the book.

Overall, we are delighted with the outcome. It looks great.

Naturally, from a personal level, I'd be very interested to receive feedback once people receive their copy and go through it.

He seems genial and calm
But it wasn't very wise
To stand between Neil Balme
And the big September prize

Can't go past this entry. Well done 'LeeToRainesToRoach'.

Please message me with your name and address and I'll have the publisher send you a copy of the book.

Honourable mentions to 'Tiger 29' and 'Streak' and everyone else who gave their thoughts.

There will be more news about the book during the week.
