Ouch. You don't rate our Capt at all. I'd I've him sitting at number 6 on your list.

If we bring consistency into the equation he would climb a gew more spots.

And I can only assume you adding edwards was meant for a laugh.

in all fairness to Newy I'm having a cranky day, and there's more to being a captain than just being BOG.
And YES, sometimes edwards has a better game than Newy.

yeah, true, the last 4 or 5 games of the season I would agree with you ;)

Edwards??????????

Edwards??????????????????????

What are you smoking DDT?

Apparently Leon Davis is the only person happy with Meat Loaf's performance as there is now a worse grand final performer than him.

Collingwood supporters are not to happy either with the suggestion that Swan should hand back his Brownlow and Reid his All-Australian.

It's a joke that this guy gets All Australian when he is possibly the worst performed player in all finals and not just GF's. I thought such an honour was reserved for consistency? Pathetic decision made by a pathetic bunch of administrators.

Davis is great when he has space , he can cut you up from the backline . He has been found out in the finals because all 3 teams Collingwood played made him play on an opponent and he struggled big time one on one .

Correct, this is why players of his ilk should not be given top honours, same thing happened to Yarran and Johncock. The so-called experts should take head when Brett Deledio gets tagged he still manages to pick up 25 possessions, successfully shuts his man out of the game and kick goals from 50. Again I have to say that the likes of Demetriou and Anderson clearly have no idea when it comes to assessing a player's worth.

Can I be one of those experts that takes head?

:rofl Sorry, Freudian slip there.

As for your request Streaker, I undertand there's a lot of love for big Cox in the West so I'm guessing you're in the right place.

Leysy's just watchin the GF replay.

Was Varcoe's goal in the last when he ran the length of the ground to get involved in the play 4 times one of the goals of the year or what.

Amazing amazing goal.

On 2nd thoughts, yes it was goal of the year for leysy.

Agreed Leysy. Puts himself in harms way to try and take the mark at half back, gets a toe poke in on the wing to keep the passage going, then the take off the pack and the finish. Wow.

He played a very very good game. Pure silk.

Played the game of his life, based on last week I'm starting to soften my hardline stance on Varcoe.

Yep Phil.

It has courage at step 1, Football nouse at step 2, & amazing skill and fitness to do step 3.

Its been given decent media exposure, but not sure to the level it should.

Deserves to be ranked right alongside great grand final goals of all time.

Yeah, it is to gut running what Daniel Chicks smoother and tackling efforts were in I think the 05 Grand Final.

Amazing effort. It's a example of what the modern game is all about. Push back into space & then multiple sprint efforts. But you have to be able to have the polish at the end.

This is why Travis Varcoe is such a disappointing player.

He has all the talent. Moves like Gary Ablett. Isn't a 1/4 of the player because he doesn't work hard enough. He was very good early in the first quarter or 2. Kicked a couple goals and was very involved. He was the invisible man after that. Lucky Geelong can carry such a player that turns up for about 2 quarters a game.

That's just crap Barnzy. I like your posting but this is a case of refusing to accept this guy works as hard or harder than anyone in the game. Watch some replays and look at how much he runs end to end. The goal he got in the GF is not a one-off, he kicked a similar one against the Hawks. Started a movement in the backline and finished with a goal at the other end at a crucial time in the game. Not sure what your expectations of him considering he doesn't start in the middle and has played mostly as a HFF - do you want him getting 20+ touches and 3 or 4 goals a match?? Geelong have Selwood, Kelly, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Chapman & Duncan all going through the middle in front of Varcoe. He plays as a HFF most times yet averages over 7 handball receives per match? How would he do this if not working hard?

FYI his stats line up similarly to Nahas - would you say Nahas is a bludger?

You simply refuse to conced you are wrong about this guy - wish we had some disappointing players like him.

Agree BigCat.

Varcoe works bloody hard during games.

The major area he can improve ILO is when/where to run to get involved more. That has nothing to do with how hard you work.
