?? Swans were 4 wins and 3 losses and a draw after 8 games. O'Keefe and Kennedy were killing it early on and all the talk was about how inconsistently Goodes was playing. I'd be surprised actually if Goodes finishes above O'Keefe, O'Keefe had a very good year.

Not a chance. Goodes is an umpires pet, will poll at least 18 votes. Be surprised if he's not in the top 5

Yes but the fact is Goodes has played mainly forward this year. And forwards don't poll as well.

And won games off his own boot. He stands out like the proverbials in the swans starless lineup.

Re: Who will win the Brownlow?

Agreed BCL.

He probably won't, but Swan should win it. 33 touches a game and 33 goals for the year. Massive amounts of contested possession and uses it well to boot. Freak.

True, but he's had enough stints on the ball to snag votes. His centre clearances are very eye-catching - one of Goodes' is worth two of a player like Cotchin's to the umpires - and he's had a career high of those in 2011.

A few years ago, Roos took the rare step of bagging him in public, saying his form was a "massive concern" - after consecutive games of 3, 2 & 2 votes! The guy is a vote magnet.

Sure from Rd 18 onwards. His early season, and even more so mid-season form was very average. I still reckon O'Keefe will outvote him this year. We'll know in 2 weeks time.

Judd is the best player in the AFL.

Maybe on reputation. Not on performance the last 2 years.

If I had to choose the best midfielder in the AFL to join Richmond Ablett Jnr easily for me.

18 votes would have placed you 9th last year, 6th in 2009, 8th in 2008. So you agree with me, not likely to make top 5? Reckon he'll be lucky to get 18 votes this year, probably as high as he will get.

Last year no way was Judd best for the year but this year he's been unbelievable Will win B&F eaily.

Lol. He's a freakin gun.

No one ever said that he's not a "freakin gun" just not the best player in the AFL anymore. Murphy from his own team has overtaken him for one. Just look at the latest final for proof. Had a better season I thought. Pendlebury was also slightly better than Murphy too, IMO and on the same level as Ablett.

Nah. Murphy should win it.

Murphy's been damn good but he's not in Judd's class. No-one can do what Judd does. The only player I have seen come close is Cotchin and that's in congestion, passing off to a teammate with immense advantage creating something out of nothing. It's almost a sixth sense. Judd has never accumulated the most possessions, he'snot even a sublime kick, but it's that lateral thinking and the rounded attributes he has defensively that makes him stand out.

Re: Who will win the Brownlow?

Umpires have rose coloured glasses. Judd ! Too much Judd luv out there by the umps imho

Again, maybe on reputation but not on performance this year. I'd strongly disagree. As for mentioning Judd defensive abilities he's pretty average in that area. His opponents seem to get away from a fair bit and teams often choose to go head to head against him for a reason.

Murphy gets more of the ball, can release it just as well while being tackled, has better lateral movement around the packs, is quicker, is just as smart with his ball use, better kick and kicks more goals.

You look at stats too much. I've no doubt Judd is still a much better player than Murphy. Just such a game breaker. Superstar.
Pendlebury and Ablett just behind him but I'd still take Judd as first pick in the AFL, Goodes who is also underrated probably 2nd choice.

Actually pretty much all of what I just said was based off watching them but thanks anyways.

Yes of course. He's very difficult to tag so the best way to at least maximise your disadvantage is to have your best player punish going the other way. That doesn't make Judd defensively poor. He is 10th in tackles per game (Murphy not in top 50), 3rd in goal assists per game (Murphy 50th), 2nd in scoring assists (Murphy 11th) 8th in centre bounce clearances (Murphy not in top 50), 5th in contested possession (Murphy 10th), 2nd in first possesion (Murphy 20th).

If you are just looking at possession counts then yes Murphy is the better player. If you are looking at the ability to win the ball yourself and make scoring opportunities then Judd is definitely better. 3rd and 2nd in goal assists and scoring assists and he's a midfielder. That's why they call him a match-winner. That's no knock on Murphy, he has been excellent too but to say he's a better player than Judd signfies to me you don't truly value what Judd has shown on the field what he is capable of doing. This year would have to be one of his best seasons in a while and based on him winning it last year when (I thought) he was very average, he's going to win it this year in a canter.

We all see things differently. Judd will rightly be remembered (by most) as one of the best players ever and is right now still in his prime.

Wasn't Swan first in goal or score assists last season yet was roundly bagged on PRE as having little impact on matches compared to others and not as damaging. Can't have it both ways now.
