The Blair "Which?" Project

And yeah Geelong blah blah blah, sure they are well run, but they are also the AFLs darling, and have benefitted hugely from a conga-line of cheap stars. They are the exception that proves the rule, and besides, we owned them when it mattered most.
We sure did. The road to six of our last eight flags has been lined with dead cats.

67 GF
69 Semi (flogged them by over 100 points)
1980 2nd semi
2017 QF
2019 PF
2020 GF

Mwahaha!

That's has been our stepping stone to premiership glory for over 50 years.
A nice Geelong slapping in September.
Why do you think Hocking changed the rules.
As much as they praise Geelong for there success they have lost 5 Grand finals in the AFL era since 1991 or 6 GF's if you go back to when WC entered the comp in 1987.
I give them 2 yrs and it's bottom 4

I really have no idea what our cap position is. Doesn’t feel as empty as it should for 26 & 27.

Seems to be a lot of media talk around Blair going to Tassie to head up the List MgMnt team.

FWIW from what Leysy understands he won't get that gig. It will be fellow North-West Taswegian Graeme Wright who is close to Benny and Tasmania FC Chairman Grant O'Brien (both good friends from Penguin - Our own Michael Gale played with Grant in the clubs last flag in 1985).

So wouldn't stress about losing Blair - To Tasmania anyway.

When would Tassie be looking to bring in someone for list management? You'd hope that the new CEO at least gets a year with most of the current upper management to decide which leadership/management staff we wanna keep & who we're happy to let look at other options

Ohh, our new CEO won't have all that long then... Though I think Benny's the kinda to never settle & see how the game (and world) are moving along - kinda have to be to be as good of a CEO as he's been for us - and if he's doing that, then he knows he can't do a carbon copy & just being in all the old favourites

Davies seems good. Raises the question of the need for experienced players to be brought in as well as using the draft. There could be a few retirements and departures at the end of the season and it has to be a mix otherwise we end up like North, with kids being belted every week. So I think the right retreads are important.

Obviously there will be a lot of change to next years round 1 team compared to this years , who of the senior players stays and go’s ? Grimes , KMac , Prestia, Pickett, Broad, Martin , Naismith , Lynch are all 30 plus , then we have the middle tear with question marks for a variety of reasons Bakes , Short , Graham, Hopper, Miller and DRioli has been talked about as leaving .

I think Gibcus is the only one of the cubs who could have been a genuine star , I highly doubt he could be now , I just hope the kid gets on the park and be 80% the player he could have been , the mental demons will be huge for him to cross considering the strength of his game . I do however see good potential in Smith, Trezise, Bauer and McCauliffe, cubs like Sonsie , Brown , Clarke Campbell, Mansell, Ross and Maurice imho , could all be good roll players , however I don’t see A grade in any of them , all lack something . Yep we need role players however , there easy to ad, superstars needed to win flags a bloody hard to find and keep.

A complete changing of the guard taking place.
Off field, Peggy, Benny, Dimma, Balmey. The key pieces of our premiership years have left or are leaving.
Premiership players..club legends Cotch and Jack, Astbury, Rance probably Dusty, Prestia and one or two others have retired or are heading dow; that path very shortly.

I’ll take the pain that we are in for. I’ll try not to get too despondent. Somet8mes it’s bloody hard to take.
But just be grateful and appreciative of those glory days we’ve all shared.

A new chapter is under way. There will be a lot of teeth gnashing and questions and blame. But we’ll need to ride it out. It’s a process, there’s no quick fix. There is still a core group! alls not lost, just yet. Close but let’s wait and see what eventuates

I listened to BG interview Saturday and he refuted it to tho , what the heck else would he say ,,,we need Hartley to stay , he knows what success looks like and I trust him to be able to do go again ,,,putting that faith into a newbs hands would be one almighty challenge

I’ll also take the pain so long as we are making smart list decisions and not chasing short term fixes.

Elliott Himmelberg. Unrestricted free agent. 26 next month. 199cm. 44 games. Would be our starting fullback (unless we were desperate and had to throw him forward).

He's playing forward for the Crows but they have Welsh coming in next year and Thilthorpe coming back from injury. Worth the question.

how many games has he played at senior level as a key defender?
44 games in 8 seasons in total. Chronic injuries or just not getting a game?

I remember he played against us a couple of years ago and looked like Wayne Carey, and then later that year from memory was dropped to the SANFL.

Whether it's players or teams, we always play them into form.
