With Nank and Lynch not playing it’s out of Baker and Short on who captains the team.

My money is on Short.

If i were Richmond, I would play a reserves team this week. We should not and can not be going on full strength on Saturday. If we do, we will have 5-6 soft tissue injuries by the end of march. Mark my words. And playing a reserves team would be a massive middle finger to the AFL and their fixturing. And that would make me smile.

For the life of me, I don't know how anyone can think starting the season this weekend is a good idea. Imagine if we had a full round with 4-5 games in Melbourne with the upcoming weather forecast? the AFL can *smile*.

I dont like the R0 concept,

but I can't follow your logic here whatsoever.

5 days early = 5 injuries?

teach the AFL a lesson by starting the season at a sold out stadium, 4 points and % down?

as an aside, wouldn't we have had Seth or Steely phoning parents video if they were debuting?

there's a lot of logistics getting Tassy and WA families to GC

dont think its gonna happen

although the camera barely left Seth on the training video on rfc.

maybe Ooze likes the old element of surprise (dusty not ruled in or out?). hope so

I hope they wear balaclavas on to the plane

I don't think they will release the team to the players until at least today, so we should hear something today you'd think. From memory a lot of those videos come out the day before teams are released.

All just because thats the day they released the video doesn't mean it was the day filmed if they do tell them early especially when flying family interstate.

You’re worried about losing 4 points this week while I’m worried about losing multiple games in future weeks due to the injuries we’re gonna cop over the next week. Playing 5 days after our opening game that will be played in the afternoon in 27 degree heat and 80% humidity is absolute madness.

It also contradicts the AFL stance on player welfare. We hear a lot of talk about head injuries and concussion. But we never hear any talk about wear and tear on the body and the potential it has to shorten careers. Especially now that we have an extra game due to the shameful money grab they call Gather Round.

On top of that, we are about to have a decent heat wave in Melbourne over the long weekend. What if we cop another 35 degree day next Thursday after playing in the gold coast humidity?

There's tomorrow's main training to get through yet, they wouldn't be telling players today I wouldn't have thought?

I must have missed when 27 degrees became The Inferno of Hell?

if steely or Seths folks and siblings need to get to GC from Tassie and WA, as is tradition.

plus jumper presentation blokes, media etc.

I dont reckon there's anyway they dont know now and have it all sorted.

they dont want a debutant running around like a blue arsed fly organise an extended family on a Friday morning before getting on a plane, no way

come on mate, its more the humidity than the temperature and you know that. It’s also the opening game of the season where the tempo will be higher than any game we have played in 7 months. You don’t need to be a medical expert to know the risk of soft tissue injury over the first 2 games is catastrophic

I think your overblowing it a bit.

Gold Coast in autumn isn't Equatorial Guinea

and they're footy players, not begonias

few Showers forecast Saturday, afternoon sea breeze. I think it will be great conditions for a game of footy.

but I agree the opening round 0 with a bye for a dozen teams etc is an utterly absurd marketing exercise and The AFL can GAGF
